How many Days can someone stop?

I have a friend in a similar situation. Her boyfriend stays some time at her house and sometime at his (adult) child's house. She has always been careful to not consider him living with her, I think their finances are independent and his official post goes to his work address.
He came out of a bad divorce with large debts and recently went bankrupt. Although she knew about the bankruptcy she did not know he was going to declare his address as hers.
Now her ex-husband has stopped spousal maintenance. This leaves her in difficulty as child maintenance will stop shortly due to the age of the children. She works full time but can't do more than she does because of health issues.
Once stopped spousal maintenance can't be restarted so its gone for good. The divorce deal was set up this way so she could afford to stay in the area for the kids sake and would be able to pay the mortgage once the kids left home.
Not only is she worried about paying the bills but that her child tax credits, single person council tax discount and kids student loan application could all be affected by the bankruptcy statement giving her address.
If the relationship lasts I suppose the BF can contribute to the household bills. If it doesn't then she can't get spousal maintenance re-instated and won't be able to afford the mortgage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thats one dumb comment.
Why?I magine a partner who works away 5 days a week and comes home for 2 days, they are still classed as a partner and living together.
When looking at this issue the dwp take more than the number of nights spent together, they also look at financial links i.e. joint bank accounts, name on the bills etc.And there are NO set number of nights.0
