Is it time we have a MSE WiKi

I'm famiiar with Wikipedia but for MSE? Why? What purpose would it serve.? I really don't see the point unless you are expecting users to write their own articles. Which could be full of unverified, inaccurate or even invented information. We have the forum for feedback etc and despite the hype - wikis are not that user friendly for the less web savvy.
"two many cooks" comes to mind. It's a recipe for chaos- .0 -
I think an MSE wiki is a very interesting idea. I don't know what in particular subjects it would cover. Maybe it would be an idea just to set up a system and see what develops and if it is of worth.
I do think it would have to be a seperate system from the forum where you have to request to join. It only takes one single member or 'alter-ego' to spoil something great.0 -
 I don't want to be edited by just anybody. Oh sorry you said Wiki.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Just for fun a single test page
It's set so anyone can edit it right now - but can make it member only.
Go on - add some content!0 -

I don't really know that much about WiKi - In what way would we benefit from it?0

well I put a couple of comments on there<The MSE community could share ideas> I'm not against it, but surely this is what the forums are about anyway? Though I suppose it's a compiled reference, rather than threads constantly pushed on a stack0

Lovely idea. I'm a huge fan. There's a huge amount of knowledge on this board. Many people from many backgrounds.
Problem being, I just feel that they're completely unworkable on the open Internet.
So, that is a dilemma, editorial control or not? And which are the best products - the ones with the most spammers?0 -
Great Stuff.
Whether having a Wiki would be a good idea or a bad idea - and what parts of mse it would support/complement - I don't know. But I'm a great believer in trying loads of different ideas and seeing what happens.
I wouldn't have believed Wikipedia would have lasted a month!0 -
