Virgin Media - FLASHING GREEN READY LIGHT!!!

Last Wednesday I had Virgin Media fitted and within 6 days I seem to have had the dreaded flashing green light on the modem which has meant I cannot get internet access. Having searched around I can see this is quite a common problem can anyone tell me whether this problem is easily fixed as if it is not then I shall cancel straight away and stick within my 28 day period?
Also, if I do have to go elsewhere - anyone suggest where I go to? Just want regular broadband that's all!
Also doesn't help when I then phone up and I cannot understand them and they cannot understand me. Is it too much nowadays to speak to someone with a mild grasp of the English language?

By this I take it you mean switiching off, taking cable out, then replacing and turning back on? Then, yes I have but to no avail. I have an engineer out saturday so have to waste half my weekend waiting for him to arrive. Do many people have this problem with VM?
I have read posts regarding accessing different proxies but not 100% whether I want to be going down that road without fully understanding it! Will see if engineer can fix it and if not then I'm outta there!
Got a feeling he'll just replace modem and go and I'll be stuck with the problem. Customer Service was appalling. I worked for Virgin Blue in Brisbane and we'd never have got a way with speaking to a customer in such a tone.0 -

Yes, that's what I meant.
If you want 'regular' broadband (meaning ADSL) then you will need a BT line installing first, otherwise Virgin is your only option. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

In the years I've been with VM and previously Telewest only been without the net for a short while, very reliable. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

The flashing green light seems to be between approx 5pm-7pm but fine at other times. Why is this? Is it best if I don't turn off the modem at all? Would this run up huge elecky bills?0

I leave my modem on most of the time. Don't think it uses to much leccy. I have been with VM for a couple of years and once they sorted out connection problems at the start they have been excellent.

Had a technician come out on Saturday (when the internet was working fine), he removed the splitter as I do not use the VM TV box and went direct to the supply. He took power readings and said these seemed ok which as the light wasn't flashing I thought would be.
Unfortunately a matter of an hour after he went the bl00dy light started flashing again! Another 40 minute phone call to Mumbai to try and get the technician back but was told the same thing over and over again - they cannot contact the technician once he has left the job. So now I need to wait for yet another to come out and visit, nearest beign Wednesday afternoon. My problem is that if the light doesn't flash again when he's here what do I do???
Starting to get annoyed........0
