Networking seems to be the thing, however, can you give me examples, apart from, "get your name out there"? Consultation is a hard thing to do when you dont know what you are entitled to and what to ask for. If you get a lawyer involved it costs and they cant sit in the meetings anyway!
It is not a fair process when you as the person being made redundant does not know how the process works and how you can be scammed by the employer and HR as they are working for the employers interests not yours.
I probably came out of the redundancy with less than I could have (but what would that have been?). I networked like anything and managed to get a new job (Phew!) but the experience is not a nice one.0 -

My partner has been working for a company for a number of years, he is a fully qualified welder. Today out of the blue my partner has phoned me up to tell me that all of the employees will not be getting paid this friday as they have no money. His boss has also said that they have to stay until friday unpaid. We have no savings or nothing to last us until he gets another job and at such short notice we have no way of preparing ourselves for the next few weeks with no money. My partner has basically worked the last two weeks unaware it was all for nothing. Can his employer do this? we are now at risk of loosing everything we had no idea things were so bad with the company otherwise he would have left a long time ago. Surely they have to give more notice than two days and because he will still have to attend work until the end of the week to have even a small chance of getting paid, we wont have any time to prepare ourselves. They are not telling the workers anything they have been there all day and still have no clue what is going on. is there anything we can do?0
