My employer of 12 years put me on a 2 day week and then laid me off. I've had no work for 5 weeks and after taking advice from the CAB, sent him a letter requesting redundancy. He hasn't responded after 2 weeks. There are still others working in the company. How can I get what's due to me? If I hand in my notice with a view to getting my redundancy as the CAB suggested, surely I am making myself unemployed and can't get dole money? Can anyone advise?0

I'vejust read your message and would advise you to be very careful. See my post above yours - thats only a fraction of the problems we've had. Leading up to our redundancy we tried the CAB and they could only tell us what we were entitled to. Try looking at the direct.gov site on redundancy as well thats quite helpful but again only tells you what you are entitled to. NONE of these help sites tell you what you can do if your employer doesn't do what they are supposed to do. My employer hasn't complied with his statutory requirements at all and yet the court still seem to be helping him rather than us so BE CAREFUL.0

Hi I was taken on Perm by my company after working here since 08/04/2010 through a temp agency, same role, same team my question is (as we are going through a 90 day consultation at the min) if I am made redundant on 08/04 would I be entitled to a proper redundancy payment or is the 1 months salary?0

Hi, my 2 year permanent contract is coming to an end in a couple of months. i get a retention bonus if i remain in the company up until the end of my contract of 2 months pay.
I would like to know if this counts as redundancy pay and if it is subject to income tax / NI0 -
Hello
Hopesomeone can help. I will be getting made redundant at the end of the year. I recently had a meeting as I had concerns about staffs conduct, I felt I didnt get anywhere and was highly stressed. I went off sick, now the company have offered me 2 weeks off on full pay but to ring the absence service up to indicate I have resumed my working duties. They are saying because I am being made redandent this is why I am felling this way, not acknowlwedging its because its other staffs conduct. Should I take the 2 weeks full pay? I fell this is strange as they never pay anyone full pay. I amin management role.
Thanks0 -
It might be legal but doesn't mean to say it is right. Thank goodness that ACAS still work for moral solutions for industrial strife.0

how long have you worked there?
Are you currently working your notice?
You may be entitled to full pay during your notice.
They are offering you 2 weeks garden leave, why not negotiate garden leave till the end of your contract.
If not happy with this you could put in a grievance.0 -
Wish I knew this existed before. I was made redundant last year, I didnt know what I was entitled to and the info on the internet when I searched was full of legal talk - just wanted something that made it clear.
Consultation is a hard thing to do when you dont know what you are entitled to and what to ask for. If you get a lawyer involved it costs and they cant sit in the meetings anyway!
It is not a fair process when you as the person being made redundant does not know how the process works and how you can be scammed by the employer and HR as they are working for the employers interests not yours.
I probably came out of the redundancy with less than I could have (but what would that have been?). I networked like anything and managed to get a new job (Phew!) but the experience is not a nice one.0 -
Please can some one clarify the time off for job interview rule.
On various websites it states two days (paid).
Is that for the full length of your notice, per week/month?
Appreciate different companies might be more flexible, just trying to understand what the law states as the minimum0
