Just how could that sentence offend you?

I dont think i am the only one that would like to know.

Taken in context with the rest of the post, the obvious inferrence is that immigrants from previous generations worked harder, and longer hours, in menial jobs that the locals would not do, when to any with any memories of those generations would be able to testify that that was not the case, there might be some smattering of truth if it was compared to todays benefits generation, but no to past generations.
Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years

Firstly Muslims have nothing to do with this. Youve gone from race to religion. My great grandfather fought in that war. For the British.

He fought for the Empire, his part of the Empire where there was a lot less action, even for the English over there. Lets face it Indians have a larger chunk of the Empire than we English do now, and good luck to them. Don't think there would be enough room to give entitlement to move here to all Canadians, Australians, Indians etc. because of their involvment in a World War!
Islam is relevant to an immigration debate as the large populations that are indocrinated (and lets not pretend they have much say in the matter) tend to be intolerant of others, hence we could not set up churches in most of their countries like they are free to here. They were rejected by India and partitioned and their allowance to come here has and will result in similar problems, as we are already seeing! Their arrival was one of the downsides of immigration.
There is no way to seperate the decent ones like yourself from the problematic minority and therefore the powers that be were doing a great disservice to those that fought for our security here when they let them in. There are upsides, but the many downsides of immigration lead to the opinions below which I have posted elsewhere:-

    1. 81% of people agree that the Government should substantially reduce immigration levels to Britain.
    2. 60% of Asians believe that there are too many immigrants in Britain.
    3. 77% agree that you cannot criticise the amount of immigration, or individual immigrants, without being labelled a racist.
    4. 85% agree that immigration is putting too much pressure on public services.
    5. 45% of the Black respondents felt that there was too much immigration into Britain.
    6. 76% of people agree that Britain is overcrowded.
    7. 62% of people think that Britain will soon lose its unique identity if immigration continues as it is.
    8. 76% think that there is, a fair amount (52%) or a great deal (24%), of tension between races and nationalities.

There are DOZENS of examples like this, but you are not likely to hear about them because ...well...you know why ... read the report & make up your own mind..
P.S to all the defenders of this kind of Bias, perhaps if the victim had been you or a close family member, you might just have a differant opinion....But thats the joys of "Enrichment" for you ..

Two hoodlums knock out innocent passer-by's teeth and get a 150 GBP fine.
Two hoodlums burgle a pensioner neighbours home, when he surprises them they throw him down the stairs killing him - they get 4 years each (ie 30 months?).
In both cases the sentences are daft.

It is a pathetic tariff similar to a couple of illegal parking fines.

Bring back the ducking stool, if the jails are full.

Approximately 87,000 Indian soldiers lost their lives during WWII. They won 30 Victoria Crosses.

A quick look around the internet shows 49 Victoria Crosses for the Australians, 19 for India and there were probably lots of Canadian ones amongst others. The exact figures are irrelevant, they can't all be entitled to come here!
Unfortunately the 87,000 "Indian Empire" deaths were light, the Soviet Union lost 10,700,000 according to the same Wiki list.

To be fair Derv, there are many of your posts that would barely be classed as English.

dervish is fighting a bettle against a lot of people on here trying to put forward a message that a lot of people want to shout down. no wonder he sometimes makes a few mistakes. dervish is a true champion of free speech on here no matter what some people say. we need a few people in goverment rto do the same and maybe our country will get off its knees.

dervish, keep flying th union jack pal. your doing a top job on here and making a lot of people open there eyes to what is hapening in our great country.

There are NO FIXED JOBS in the economy thus no immigrants can take British jobs!

For me I say OPEN THE BORDERS.

I can't think what you are on about and it must have escaped your notice that the borders are already wide open. That is the problem.

I don't really get this 'wide open' perception. We're open to all EU countries, because we're part of the EU. If you're from outside the EU, and therefore require a work permit, it's still very difficult to get a job, and therefore reside, in the UK. 99% of the jobs that attract a work permit do so because the country finds it hard to fill those roles with decent people at the present time. Or am I wrong?

I think you are. The British public did not ask for a EU free for all immigration system. How much more wide open would you like? We were promised a vote on the EU constitution by Labour. Another broken promise. If the 'awful immigrant' jobs were not being taken by immigrants they could be done by all those UK born, bone idle benefit scroungers instead.

Anyhow, just being a member of the EU is no excuse to have to have the borders so open and the benefits for asylum seekers so readily availble and generous. France and Germany have restricted immigation and the benefits payments, why can't we? Because we have a soft good for nothing government.

Not sure I want the dependants of 10.7 million soviets turning up to live here either.

There are no fixed amount of jobs in any economy. This is why there is unemployment. It is called capitalism. Thus, there are no fixed amount of British jobs to take. Period.

Open the borders - yup. From some right wing povs/arguments free movement of labour and free movement of money build capitalism. From a left pov while there is free movement of money and border control there is more explotation and less chance of workers' solidarity.

FYI immigration in the 1950s = more jobs than workers. Each time there has been a recession immigration has gone down. This is what is happening now in terms of, for exmaple, Polish workers.

You may not like this, but an open debate should mean just that. Not a one sided, send the devils home/shut the borders. It means looking at the issue from a number of pespectives. The issue is not two-sided - its is multi-dimensional.
