Hang about, didn't house prices go up 1.8% in this month? If I follow the backward logic of some on this site then I'm £3,366 better off just from April 2009 alone.

Might treat myself to a new plasma with the money. I deserve it for all my hard landlording.

Bit of an awkward one.....when I put in my current status it comes out as better off by £400 and a few odd pennies (increases in tax credits and child benefit) but it says if your situation is the same for next year....well eldest is 16 this year so I took him out and it came back as better off by £230 and a few odd pennies.

Err, he is staying on at school (in fact he doesn't finish compulsory school until June/July next year!) so will still get child benefit and tax credits for him.

Also, my car was made before the new rates came in for tax....didn't have a scoobie which bit it should come under so put it on the middle rating.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

If you lead a similar lifestyle next year, the indications are that you will be £4939.11 better off.:eek:

That's because I will start to receive my State Pension!

I did it for myself and husband combined. The breakdown is : worse off as regards diesel , road tax and alcohol, slightly better off with husband's income tax, but I will have £5k pension coming in which I don't have at the moment!

Without it we would have been worse off.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Initially I was ok, but reading the budget report depressed me so much that I now smoke 60 cigs a day and consume copious amounts of acohol. Living miles from the nearest shop I use litres of fuel everyday. So although I'm worse off personally. I feel that I'm making a real contribution to the budget deficit and will use what remains of savings to trade in my 10 year old car. At least with no savings I am entitled to more in the way of social security benefits.

We will be 237 better off as a couple next year.

We dont drive, or have kids. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHATSOEVER that we need to get this money and its my view that this money sohould be staying within the tax system- to pay down debt.

It might buy us a cheapie flat screen telly. :rotfl:

I think we'll save it for when that rainy day comes splashing down, in the form of tax rises
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Guardian and BBC concur about £100 better off. Probably all end up on inflationary food rises

There's an error on the Guardian's calculator. If you have two high-emission cars it only calcs for one, so the value is only £190 rather than £380
