That's interesting. I've been wondering whether or not to take out a savings a/c with ICICI. Maybe if Lloyds TSB are okay with them. . . .

  • So glad i found this thread. I recently opened a HiSave accoutn with them and today had my first experiene of dealing with them

Too long to go into detail, but 1hr and 45 mins and 8 phone calls later, no better informed, phone line went dead (or phone was put down - I reserve judgement) 4 times I am desperate to get my money out. I could speak to 'a manager' at some point tomorrow when they bother to call me back.

No complaints procedure is available so i went to the website and found a 'Compliment, Complain or Suggest' form. Spent 15 minutes filling it in only to hit 'Submit' and be asked for a valid accuont number.

Strange, I had quoted that number in all 8 phones calls no problem.

1 last call to ask if there were problems on the website, again he couldn't tell me, and said the acct number was correct, so i should write in instead.

I give up. Had enough. Cant wait to get my money back - despite it having been credited to my account I can't get it back till Tuesday (2 weeks after transferring it!). Just glad I didnt put all of my savings in.

Give me back a good old UK based account, with slightly less interest who DO know what's happening on my account.

What experience (if any) has anyone else had?

    D

Not a very good advert for them then.
I think I will wait a while before I put my hard earned in there.

Experience seems to vary from 'no problem' to 'terrible' - see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=96029. I personally am one of the ones that has so far not had any problem (touch wood)
  • Hi all

I've just had my second 'wonderful' experience with ICICI since joining them (following my post on Friday evening).

I was told last Friday that the 6.5k balance would be available to transfer back on Tusday 14th - that was bad enough, took 8 phone calls and 1hr 45 mins. I also got ths in writing via email.

I went on line this morning to try and transfer the money back as had enough of their poor service. I got a message back saying 'Balance too low'. I decided to leave it until later to try and transfer the money back. Got home tonight and tried again - same message. I have just spent a delightful 40 moniutes on the phone to be told I need to wait until tomorrow when the banks open as they cant do anything.

I would be really angry if I had the motivation, but after appox 2.5 hrs on the phone they have sucked it all out of me.

I know this is just my opinion, but dont trust them with your money.

The call centre dont seme to have any banking knowledge at all and seem incapable of answering the simplest questions. I may be harsh, but I just want to get the money back safely in my account.

ICICI bank is an Indian bank and has a bad reputation there. Their loan system sucks, their customer service sucks. As no one knows ICICI bank in UK, they have tied up with Lloyds TSB. When I send money from UK to India thru ICICI bank, basically I have to transfer the money to an account held in Lloyds TSB, then they deposit to my ICICI bank account in India.

If you deal with them, expect to receive a poor service.
