VERY interested in this house.

Up for £185k, fresh on market, nice area, divorce situation.
How much to offer? We feel like such novices - people keep saying "go in at a low offer", but what is a low offer?

How realstically priced is it to begin with, thats the million dollar question? What price did they pay for it, what have others sold for? What sort of work have they done to it? Looks to me like its had quite a lot of work done on it?Pawpurrs x

Good questions - will investigate!
It's in good nick inside. We could move in, basically - neutral decor and all new bits & bobs (kitchen, bathroom, doors) .. conservatory is about to fall apart and floor not yet done in there.0 -
They bought for £178,000 in 2005 ...
Hmmmmm. Bums!0 -
I was about to tell you you were being completely ripped off until I saw you were in Brighton. This sort of house would sell for £100k here max. and that is in a semi-nice area! I cannot get over Southern prices!!
If it has been up a long time, you have a good chance of knocking them down quite far. What do other houses in the area sell for?

If they paid 178k i'd offer 179k and go from there they may say meet you half way and accept £182k. Good luck and I agree with Jamtart6 regarding prices terrible for ftb's!. But I know Brighton and Hove well so thats just the way it is like where I am Nr Bath.0

I know prices are outrageous. But we've saved for a long time, we have a good deposit and we ready to move into our own place for various reasons. So we need to think Brighton, unfortunately!
Zoopla estimate is £170,000 ... everything in the road seems to have sold for over £180,000 in recent months (and £250,000 at peak!). We've viewed cheaper properties, but they all needed an awful lot of work for not much discount (although obviously a potential point of negotiation). Ho hum!0 -
Fresh on market - then don't rush! Let them sweat...
Give it a month or two for Land Registry to show the drop to earlier than 2005 prices...?

March figures will be available on 30/4, so worth waiting a week...?

I think you're confusing 2-bed with 2-building! Looking at the pic it's at the end of a terrace of houses!0
