New clutch

Comments

  • Had the exact problem last Friday, go my car back yesterday after doing the work from a local mechanic.

Clutch kit was £260, Flywheel was £500, Labour was £150 with a couple of other bits it all came to £984. I am still in shock and well gutted.

FYI - my vehicle is a Zafira diesel. I did ask Mr Clutch and they could not give me an exact cover the phone, but did say it will be between £1000 - £1300.

My advice is dont let the garage buy the parts find them online etc yourself this will save you a fortune then just find someone to fit it for you.
We just made a mistake full price parts etc ! you can easily save over £300 if you do this!

    Ford Tourneo £1300

We were just desperate to get it back on the road and it still took a week!

I've just been told approx. £850 inc VAT for new clutch / flywheel on my Touran - was going to post to ask whether this sounded about right, but from this thread would seem so. :(

My DMF springs were slack on my car, so I went to the dealer for a quote and was quoted £900, but this included DMF + Clutch + Labour, Which isnt to bad.

But as Im a member of a popular car forum, I contacted a member who was a VAG specialist and got the job done for £350.

I would advise getting the DMF done at the same time, as its the same labour involved changing the clutch.

Worst case is that you have the clutch done and the DMF vibrates when the new clutch is engaged due to warping or slack springs.

I agree with buying your own parts

I did this with my own car and then my local garage just charge me for the labour. saved myself a good £200

Some cars can also be converted from Dual mass flywheels to the normal type of fly wheel which may make the job cheaper. It is worth investigating.

Tru but only really worth doing if you plan on keeping the car for the next 100,000 miles or so.

    Thanks for all the replies

I'll let you know how much it cost when I get it back.... which looks like at least a week...so I've had to hire a car for the duration...it can only get better!
