Can anyone recommend a good hosting company ??

A friend of mine is wanting me to make a website up for him. We're going to need some sort of hosting company from what I can gather - can't just get a dial-up webspace, as he has no idea how to upload and doesn't want to know, so need something that we just need a password and user name to access, rather than limited to a specific dial-in number.
I can't do any of the HTML writing - I use Frontpage. Ideally, I would like somewhere that will allow me to download templates to use with frontpage, so that I can create a site off-line and then upload, but possibly with additional extras like an online "calendar" or journal to place a list of upcoming events - not a major need though, as I can just make up a "table" or something if necessary. He doesn't want anything flash (literally!) - no moving parts or anything, just a basic website. I've seen free ones - some that look quite good, but (a) they have adverts on them, which we don't want, and (b) I'm not sure if these allow uploading of my own pages. We will also want a domain name, but that's not a major problem either.
Any recommendations?

Others that came up using the search are:-
http://www.1and1.co.uk/
http://www.34sp.com/
http://www.123-reg.co.uk/
Good Luck!0 -
I use https://www.supanames.co.uk, and find them pretty good. Cheap and cheerful, but their support people do their best to smooth out any difficulties.0

Supanames looks really good, for what we want - two years for £60 (which is about £80 less than I've seen anywhere else!!), including a free domain name, plenty of space and e-mail addresses - thanks for that, I think we might try them. :money:0

ask me what you want and ill arrange a price
The requirements seem to be filled by this option:

Which seems a very good price, but price is not the only issue - do you have a website (silly question to ask a hosting company!!

I've always been happy with https://www.netweaver.co.uk ... especially when i only need a small amount of space for a site and a cheap domain name.0

I host my site with http://www.freevirtualservers.com/ you can either go for the free hosting option that gives you 100Mb bandwidth a month, or splash out £25 a year for 4Gb a month.
Lots of templates and free software.0 -
I'm using http://www.macoman.co.uk/ Bronze £20 per year.0
