If you read the associated info (or even click about) then you'll see that the data is provided by councils and the owners who partake in questionaires etc - you aren't telling me that everyone who does one of these is 100% honest? I done the one on plane back from Cuba and said salary was £100k + and lived in a castle.... LOL

    For a joke!

Ignore cameo - it is Acorn as my links sugggested.....

Anyway, I posted the links where the data comes from, Acorn, and to be honest the data is usually quite accurate so I think you ought to email them and let them know it it is so wrong - you'll find they want to come and see for themselves to verify!

Acorn are a very very solvent company :D

If the info is provided in part by Councils, then this makes it even worse! I won't say what tax we are charged around here, but it is in the higher bands. I think me and my neighbours need to petition the Council for a big discount, as we all deal with our own sh*te in situ. :D

They have to, by law, give you one of three main reasons:

    1. Credit Score/Qualifying Criteria
    2. Adverse Data
    3. Credit Agency Details

class mate! never new that!!

the basic fact is lots of companies are refusing credit with no good reason imo

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

They usually say summat like 'you do not meet our criteria' when they don't want to tell you the real reason................

Yes but the council only declare average house prices, tbh the acorn classification system is usually provided by the Land Registry...... therefore the data should be accurate.

By the way, my council tax is also the higher brackets (I pay £255 per month) but that means nothing, it is not assessed using this.

Council Tax can be appealed but if you lose (due to post 92 rates) then you could end up paying more, as happened with us due to a neighbour appealing the original E band we were in - we now all hate the neighbour as we've jumped from £1600 p.a. to £2600 p.a

Yes, it is better to apply for these cards -Argos etc in person. The chances of acceptance is greater as it is a face to face application

Heck, that is some jump! I think we are all quite happy around here, but I was surprised at the total mis information given, especially if being pre judged on this type of information like the OP.

I know, its a pain cos we were using the rates from 1992 and some fool complained and tried to get lower rate - backfired and went up! Grrrr

So its the correct jump to the valuations in the area using 2007 prices (i.e. average house in 1992 was like £150k whereas now its £400k) - we were gutted but the neighbours name was mentioned as the appealant! We hate them - LOL

I agree, that it is wrong to use demographical data to assess creditworthiness - a good example - I earn good money but have a lot of debt. I up and run, move to a posh area and rent there. Credit should be a piece of cake as the demographic data shows me as a high earner in a big house when really i'm unemployed renting so have nothing! See the logic....?
