SMILE wine. A test of conscience...

  • So what did you do?

I've received a second voucher too and they haven't responded to the secure message I sent them on Monday telling them so and asking if it's valid. It seems to take me to the Virgin site ok. The wine from the first lot has been good so far!

...and I'm not closing the account because I was planning to change to Smile anyway.

I slept on it (the predicament not the voucher :))

My second case should be here tomorrow. I had to do so much chasing to get my original voucher that I saw it as "compensation" :)
  • Thanks for that!

Well, I'm sure your conscience is not troubling you, but if you have the slightest pang of unease, fear not! I have received a reply to my secure message and am now going ahead and ordering my second case of wine (have enjoyed some of the first already - hic).

"Due to your recent secure message / telephone call regarding the wine I have the details for you now.

All you need to do is go to https://www.virginwines.com/smile and then click on "Add to my basket".

Will give it a go now.
  • Excellent :) Well done.

I haven't actually even opened my first box yet... am still ploughing through stuff left over from Christmas ;)

After many emails and telephone calls I evenually received my voucher. I must say the service from the wine supplier was excellent more than I can say for Smile.

After receiving three boxes of wine as hoped for, I've also been sent an EXTRA e-voucher!! :T

No hesitation - 4th box of wine on the way.

I've just received a secure message from them with a voucher code. Unfortunately it matches the one they emailed :(

  • How did you get 4 cases of wine then? Did you get the smile case or did you change it to something else?

If you do want to put it towards something else, you don't have to use the other cases on the virginwines.com/smile page. You can use the voucher towards any of these cases:

The South American one looks good.

I faced this dilemma a couple of years ago when Egg offered a case of wine for opening an ISA. They sent me 2 vouchers, each for a case of Virgin's finest. They were both in slightly different names too - one for Kenneth and the other for Ken.

I did NOT use the second voucher. This was a mistake - the sense of moral superiority in no way equalled the joy that a second case would have brought.

To further compound my misery, I never actually got a sniff of the wine. In just over a week all 13 bottles had been either:
    a) taken by teenage offspring to various parties.
    b) given as gifts to people whose birthday/anniversary had been overlooked
    c) polished off by Mrs. Zen and her cronies.

AND the value of my investment went down instead of up :(

So, forgive me, where exactly does the "master" bit fit in with zenmaster? :D
