Im a buyer- im going to leave negative for the sake of it!

  • i had a peek at someones feedback earlier today on playtrade who had an 82% rating.

although most of the negatives were in response to them selling free dvds from the daily mail (serves him right), the one that caught my attention was this:

    "just didn't enjoy the film"

    harsh !

I've noticed a lot of buyers leave negs or neutrals for items 'not what i expected'
I have recently been buying wedding favours (chocolate hearts) from ebay, 1 seller in particular had rather a lot of negs regarding the size of the hearts, It does say in the description that they are 1cm, yet there's lots of negs - ITEM SMALLER THAN I IMAGINED  How is it the sellers fault the buyer didn't read the description or doesn't know what a CM is!
If google doesn't know it, how should i?

Hat - I saw a similar one on Amazon Marketplace the other day that made me chuckle. The customer had given the seller 2 stars out of 5 and the comment read...

"A pleasant little film to while away an afternoon but not life changing"

Anyway you never even mentioned the point that i was asking about so im not sure why you even answered my post...

If you have not been suspended for collecting negs/neutrals, then why not just set up a new and fresh account?

As long as you have not been banned/suspended, then there is no limit to the amount of accounts you can run - if one collects a few negs, then start selling from the other to let the negs vanish over time.

That said, as above, I've personally not seen an increase in the number of negs or neutrals I've received since the feedback changes - just the occasional and unavoidable numpty.

The other thing that is being noticed by more and more sellers is the type of market you sell in attracts certain types of buyers. When I sold DVD's, the most common one to go "missing in the post" was 'Fast and the Furious' - and to me this indicates that the typical buyer of that DVD is more problematic than say a typical 'Dirty Dancing' DVD buyer.

I had one of my very few warnings several years ago for selling a Dirty Dancing video, I got a slap on the wrist from ebay for selling an item that infringed their adult policy. :rotfl:

So true! My 100% was blemished by some dimwit who 'presumed' something to be what it was not. I sold a dozen 'papier mache' decorations - winning bid was £4ish. Neg left 'I thought these were wood for the price'. :wall: (papier mache was the giveaway...)

    Feedback does not pay bills,

You've been a way a while Dave, we quite missed your odd take on things.

Plenty of 98% sellers still out there although I do feel that a few I've come across recently really ought to have been banned.

If you are a private seller and just sell the odd amount 1 neg and some lower stars could potentially get you suspended then banned unless a load of 5* positives arrive. You have 30 days to up your buyer satisfaction. If you dont' sell anything much or have not sold anything else you are done for. A large power seller with lots of sales can absorb negs. Some buyers know this and have the potential to cause big trouble for small sellers whether business or private.

A lot of large sellers will sell lots of small cheap items with free postage purely to keep their stars and feedback above the required level for a PS discount. The weight of a comment & DSR rating is not dependant on the value of the goods. I think this is a serious flaw as a poor seller can look good as the high priced items get lost amongst the cheap stuff.
