Diabetic Dog Food ??

Our dog has 2 injections a day, one in the morning and one at night. They tried giving him one injection a day but he just could not last between injections. You could tell when the injection was wearing out as he would drink loads of water. We said that we prefered him on 2 injections and the vet agreed that he went back to two injections.

It might be that this suits your dog better as well. Perhaps you could suggest it as an option on your next visit, our dog is on caninsulin a pig derived insulin. When he was on one injection a day it was cow based insulin.

I do hope things improve for you soon, unfortunately it is a bit of trial and error trying to get your dog stabilised, good luck.

Thank you again, our boy is not getting any better and will have a blood sugar hourly test at the Vet's this Friday. he is still not eating solid food and the liquid feeds by syringe into his mouth distress's him and us,

oh dear - will he eat human food? Some chicken and rice or oats would be better than nothing, but do ask your vet first.

1st May 2009. I wish to thank all of this forums correspondents who responded to my request for guidance on Diabetic Dog Food. Unfortunately today I buried my best friend "Czar" who could no longer enjoy his life on this planet. I had to dig a large hole and it has left me with a huge void in my heart. This has happenned on five previous occassions and I know that time will heal the despair of losing such a loving and loyal friend. Thank you all once again for your time and advice.

I am very sorry to hear of your problems.
I have been off this site for a few days so only picked up on this tale just now.
