And Brabantia are renowned for the quality of their products, long guarantees and their excellent after-sales customer service. In the unlikely event of any of their products breaking, they either will end a replacement part so that they can be mended, or even replace the item. OK, they may not be the cheapest, but if it's going to probably be the first and last pedal bin you buy ...

    5 for 40p IS 8p each

Yes BUT when they were on offer at 5 for 40p, for a single one they were gonna cost you around £1 each unless you bought all 5 so now they have put the actual price to 8p each.

Zoe Girl, mostly jewellery. I'm going to try asking if I can put small displays in local shops as I've seen others do, sell a bit online, and then try and find craft fairs to sell at.

There are lots of small independent 'arty/crafty' shops in the north laine area, (not to be confused with 'The Lanes' which is very expensive!) might be some shops there that would sell for you.

its also a lovely area just to walk around

I know you mentioned your flat
    having windows,have you noticed
    these curtain tracks in IKEA
they are called INDEX and very easy to
    put up

    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90079372

in different sizes starting at £2.53
and all of them extend to fit most
    window sizes from the narrowest
to quite wide. The curtain rings that
hang to them have clips on them
so if you dont want to sew you can
just clip a piece of fabric to them
to cover the window and yet still be
able to open and close them

I had a piece of Cath Kidston fabric
and used it to over a bedroom window
but you could use anything perhaps a
nice silk scarf. It great because there
is no sewing and you cn change it
every time you get fed up of looking
at it.Or just put up regular curtains

To save on floor space on your balcony or inside, use hanging baskets to grow things like tomatoes. If you're not allowed to put hooks in the wall I think you can get (or make) freestanding plant stands. Use any dark corners for growing bean shoots.

  • Tixy and Olliebeak, thank you for the good wishes :)

Ooo Gingervamp that looks really good, I'll take a look at where I could fit it.

Dazi, Northlane looks lovely, I could only dream of having a little shop there.... but maybe asking for a little display space is the first step to that. Ah... I'm all daydreamy now!

Thank you rosiekitten, I've added that to my shopping list, I noticed there was no blind and I wake up with the first sign of light, it also looks like a lovely way to cheer up the room a bit and add some colour.

Austin Allegro, That's a really good idea, I've looked online and found some freestanding ones with three baskets on top of each other which will be perfect for my salad and strawberries and then I can use the old pots for the tomatoes, and beans is a good idea I hadn't even thought of them! Thank you :)

I've just finished my compact packing. I'm hoping it will fit in the car... and the flat... I managed to get back my old Ikea table from a flat mate and borrow a fold up stool from my dad, gave them and the futon frame a scrub down with some soap and sewed up the hole in the futon cover. Also got some postcards I love and bluetack so I can make the room feel more like home since I wont have many pretty things to display. And my dad had the good idea of using an icebox to transport a few of my frozen things so I have don't have to waste it. And dug out a metal flask so when I boil water I can save the spare (picked up that tip from on here) So I feel prepared :)

On the down side though I seem to have lost my sewing machine and overlocker plug/control feet. I'm devestated... I'm hoping upon hope that it's at my exs house but to be honest I've moved so often I have no clue. They're both gone though which makes me hope they're together in a bag and easy to find.... Looking online I can only find one of the machines control feet for sale and it's around £30 so I will not be happy if I need to buy two...

Thank you everyone, you've all helped this be much more easy then it need to be!

what a shame about the sewing machine
I would be lost without mine.

have a look for places localy that do repairs
    or sell reconditioned/secondhand machines
    I bet a £ to a penny they will have a
    secondhand one laying around somewhere
or one from another model that will fit it
may be a lot cheaper than buying new.

Give John Lewis a ring and ask to be
put through to the sewing department
ask them if they can reccomend anyone
    local who services sewing machines.
they will give you a phone number of
a local firm.I did this when I lost part
of my machine rang them and found out
where it was and called in.It was like
an Aladins cave and managed to get
my bits quite cheap as they had loads
of machines that they had taken in
over the years as part ex and were using
to break up for parts.Worth a try if your
sure your bits are well and truly lost.
