Strange wording in ISA application

Just about to apply for an ISA from Halifax BS and spotted this wording in the conditions:

....
I apply to subscribe for a cash ISA for the tax year 2009/2010 and each subsequent year until further notice.
.....

Does that mean that, unless I write to them in April next year, they'll epxect me to buy another ISA, and so on in perpetuity?

Maybe I am being thick.......

    No, it's standard wording.

Doesn't mean you are committed to that provider forever.

Thanks for the quick reply. Seems like strange wording, if that's not what it means...

  • that you are subscribing this years allowance - and that this years allowance will stay in that same ISA each subsequent year until you give them notice?

No. It means that you CAN subscribe in subsequent years if you want to without doing a new form. If you chose not to subscribe with them next year, you don't have to give them notice, or indeed, tell them anything.
  • Just seen the same in another post elsewhere - thanks for clearing that up
