Surely if they agreed to waive the fee they are agreeing that it wasn't your fault, ie you don't need to pay it? I'd escalate it within o2 until they remove it.

yes, they agreed to waive the charges so there's nothing to pay - i need them to remove the adverse history from my credit report / score. i escilated it with o2 but they wont budge - they say that there's no proof that i didnt agree to the contract & that i agreed as there was a security question answered... dubius

O2 do not control the contents of the credit file, it has to be done by Experian/Equifax.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • You need to go to the ratings agency and tell them your problem. They will then investigate and should end up removing it.

This is incorrect - o2 tells the agencies what to put on the report on a monthly basis, it up to o2 to rectify the information they've passed to the agencies

I can confirm this is true. I found an old default on my credit report from vodafone - I wrote to ask them what it was for. When they called back to explain, I paid the outstanding £18, and the lady said as a gesture of goodwill she'd remove the default, as she had access to the reporting system.

True to her word it's been done  I'd try again with o2 to see if someone else will do it!

    Hi,

O2 had me down for missed payments when I was 17 even though you need to be 18 to get a contract!? My dad did have a contract with them which was settled by direct debit so there wouldn;t be any missed payments anyway.

I posted and emailed O2 Insights my Equifax credit file with the errors highlighted. I also got Equifax to open an investigation into it and I'm not sure who sorted it in the end but it was removed from my file. I couldn't even get £100 overdraft when I was 18 and because I didn't realise the credit search process all the searches and refusals knocked more points of my score!

    Hope this helps.
