Electric oven. Lights on but no heat.

Hi
I have a Zanussi ZUF270 double electric oven. Only about 15months old.
The bottom fan oven lights up like it is working, but no heat.
Could it be the element?
Can i take the element out and test?
Is it easy to get to?
Lucky we have the top oven
Many thanks

Lots of examples on here although none is your particular make.
They all tend to follow the same principle.

  • Ours did this and it was the element.

Very easy to see if it is - there is probably a panel covering the element at the back, inside of the oven. Remove this (turn off all power to it though first) then look at the element and see if there is a gap in it. There shouldn't be. We paid £25ish for a new one and changed it ourselves. 10 minute job.

I'll try and find you some links to the sites we used to identify that this was the problem.

Was just going to post that. Mine wont work if clock flashing or someone has pressed the automatic button.
Failing that it is likely to be the element thats away.I screwed the back panel from the back and took it out and replaced it quite easily. You will need the model number to order so be sure to have it at hand. Check internet for different prices.

Yup, ours does that too. Solution in our house is to press evry combination of buttoms possible for it to work. Failed that, just bashing at them until it turns on. I haven't even set the clock on mine - it's an hour and a half slow.

MIL makes us 'fix' hers too like we have special secret code to make it work

  • Cheers guys and girls.
No not the timer checked that after the last oven cost me a callout fee when it needed resetting. As the other oven is working i think it will be the element. Never had to fix an oven but will have ago at anything. Just hopeing that the panel and element can be removed from inside the oven and i dont have to pull the oven out.
  • Sorry it has to come out. Get something to place the oven on then its not resting the floor, easer to work on. Pop the back off and away you go. PS Please turn off the power or unplug if not hard wired in.
