Hello,
Looking for some advice! I won two "European" flights from work last year and am yet to use them...
I really want to get my money's worth out of them so want to go to somewhere where the cheapy airlines don't go... and probably for 5 days or so.
Whats the furthest pointaway from the UK thats still in Europe?
Where is difficult and expensive to fly to?
I'm currently thinking of Croatia- never been there and would like to visit...
Any alternatives?
Thanks in advance for your help

If i had won two tickets to anywhere in Europe id be headed for Sicily.
The most beautiful country the EU can lay claim to.0 -

Croatia and Sicily are attractive places to visit, but you can fly there cheaply. Fitting the long distance and relatively high fares brief - Cyprus, St Petersburg, Kiev, Varna, Tirana etc.0

Look, if Wales can be its own country so can Sicily.0 -

I wouldn't worry about going somewhere that is hellishly expensive to go.
Find out your options. Can you really go to ANY destination?
Iceland must come in to the reckoning I'd of thought?0 -
Tirana is a good call. Stay at the Hotel Tirana on Skenderbeg Square. The way pedestrians just launch themselves out in to 8 lanes of traffic is amazing.
The Azores are wonderful islands. Stay at the Royal Garden Hotel in Ponta Delagada, great place. Though I would try to go to some of the more remote islands with a free flight, as you can occasionally get good deals to Ponte Delgada.
Cape Verde: Not been there, and although it is applying to join the E.U. I am not sure if it is technically in Europe.
Greenland will no longer be in the E.U. after June this year as it has voted for self government and so it will no longer be part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Not sure if it is technically in Europe anyway.
The Faroes look as though they might be interesting place to visit.
Skopje in Macedonia is underated, I like it, and you can always pop over the border to Kosovo while you are there. I like Pristina, though I wouldn't say it was beautiful.
Others to think about; Belorus, Moldova, and Kaliningrad.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0 -

Ive always said Wales ranks amongst one of the most pointless countries in the world. Its nothing other than a drain on resources.

Yep- really any european destination...
Thanks for the advice people, I now need to win several more flights so I can go to all these fab places!
Very tempted by the Azores, looks lovely, and Tirana and Macedonia and Iceland... How exciting!
Thanks for all the help,

All yes. Personally in your situation I'd definitely head for somewhere in the Balkans - all the others are relatively cheap and easy to do, even if you've got to combine a cheap flight to Poland or Romania and a train onwards. Macedonia and Albania would probably come top of my list.0
