Switching Network provider to O2
I'm currently on Virgin PAYG and I'm considering switching to O2. ATM my "state of affairs" when it comes to phone use is :
I was considering going for a contract so I can get regular upgrades (and a new phone now) rather than the rather crappy system Virgin have in place where I earn £10 for every £100 I spend which means anywhere from £20-80 in a year whereas with a contract I can upgrade if I want in the last month of the contract and it can be worth upto £150 according to the O2 website. It took me 2 years to earn enough to get my current phone and even then I had to put money to it
Any recommendations of tarriff based on the info I've supplied? Would it be worth me swapping?
I'd also be looking to swap my daughter over, but since she only texts family to keep in touch with them, spends about £10 a month texting her dad on O2 now the price has gone up since he swapped networks and is 8 years old I'm quite happy to pick her up a cheap one, maybe even second hand, when I sell the ones here as they're all locked to Virgin and will cost to unlock and then get a free SIM from one of my family That way we'll all be on the same network.
At least I know what I mean
- Cost me £24-£80 a month
- I spend about £10 a month of the above on internet access through my phone when I'm out and about on the bus or at work on my breaks!
- I buy bundles for texts, ranging from £7 for 100 to £36 for 1500 texts across networks.
- I'm on their "original PAYG tariff"
- I rarely make calls from my phone ATM as I'm aware of the costs to other networks, but I don't phone people regularly enough to by a bundle including minutes as none of them are really appropriate to my needs. All my calls are either to landlines or O2 numbers. Does that make sense?
- I send picture messages quite often to O2 users.
- There is now only myself and my daughter on Virgin in the family, everyone else is now on O2 so it also costs them a fortune to phone/text us apparently.

Have a look at the 02 online tariffs, ive just taken out 400 mins 1000 texts with unlimited 02 to 02 calls and picture messages coming out of my text bundle 4 text = 1 picture message for £29.38 per month then you can add bolt ons for your web access £7.34 paying £36.72 per month and there are other bolt ons depending on which ones you need. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

Try Vodafone, tell them you've seen them give really good deals to other people (make a note of some of them) and tell them what you want. And see if they can give you some sort of discount or similar deal.
Also mention you will be porting your number and also your daughters number (this goes a long way).
You could also try this with O2 - although I would probably go via retentions/new line. Ask someone who IS on O2 to ring them and get an additional line.0 -
you could get an iphone if you like web browsing, i have one an im well impressed iv never been disapointed yet an iv dropped it and had it thrown at me during an argument lol its also fell out my pocket whilst riding my bike and its fine
its a great phone to have0 -
I was thinking of getting the iphone I figured I could afford the £35 a month tariff and then install some of the budget applications and then I might actually find it easier to stick to my budget as it would be so much easier to keep uptodate, then there's the email access and googlemaps (which is hopeless on my current phone as you can't read the text very clearly!). If I went through Quidco and got it through the Carphone Warehouse I get £45 cashback as well I think.
See I'm starting to lean that way even more now... :rotfl::rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
O2 simplicity is good, 800 mins with 1600 txts and choice of bolt on, ie unlimited web £19.98.0
