Barclaycard Initial

Hi,

Is it worth me applying for this card to rebuild my credit?

I have 2 defaults on my file from 5 years ago. Would it be better to wait than do a search on my file and risk being rejected? Or is it possible they may even accept me?

In the past year three accepted me for a mobile phone contract but before then I got turned down by rbs for a loan but that was 15 months ago. My experian score is 848.

Any ideas?

Thanks ;)

No. But nice to see you here again. :)

Yeah, like, me too. How strange. :)
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Yes i would give it ago, otherwise go into a barclays branch and apply for their credit builder card.

If I rephrased my question :-

Does anyone have a rough idea how the credit scoring for barclaycard initial works so I can see if its worthwhile me applying :)

I wouldn't take any notice of those Experian scores. They are a gimmick IMO.

It is possible to accepted for one. Are your defaults satisfied (paid)?

Have you tried apply for a Vanquis or Aqua card I know the APR is a little steep but they're an excellent way of building your credit. IMO you are more likely to get accepted for one of the above than Barclaycard Inital.

Yes they have all been paid completely just waiting for them to come off.

Does anyone know if three's credit scoring is the same as a banks credit card scoring as they accepted me. Or is it just that they are likely to accept anyone.

Ive not tried vanquis or aqua. Is it possible to access your vanquis or aqua account online? Do these accept you with none recent defaults?

The woman from my bank said when she phoned recently that I was coming up on the system to offer me a credit card. Obviously I would still fail the credit check but is it possible that they would consider me or are these computer systems just random?

Vanquis and Aqua accept people who have un-satisfied and satisfied defaults.

Aqua do have online access but Vanquis currently don't. You can apply on-line for both though. Use the links in my previous post.

You don't know if they would turn you down. Who do you currently bank with?

Some banks also run a internal score against you, they may use this in deciding if they should offer you any credit.

I think I will give aqua a go. I dont fancy vanquis if I cant do interwebby banking. Is it a good idea to apply for the barclaycard initial and if they turn me down to go for aqua? Or will that knock me down a bit if I get turned down for both.

Also, I have been paying a few credit cards off and ive cleared all my debts woooohooo. But my accounts with 3 credit cards are still open. Ive been trying to get Cahoot to close my account for a few months. It says limit £3000 and balance £0 but ive been on a dmp. Do companies actually send you a card and let you start using the facilities again or should I pester all 3 to make sure they do actually close them? Why are they still open if I dont have any cards and therefore cant use them as they are paid up.
