Everyday50 Upgrade?

I am on Orange Everyday 50, and its over 12 months in my contract and I want to upgrade again, but for some reason everyone is charging loads for users like me who are paying under £20 a month, making it hard to get a decent phone.

I was wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and is there a way to get a good deal, I am interested in the Nokia 6230 but they want £100 for it, unless i change my tarrif...(no way in hell).

For what it's worth, I too was on Everyday 50 and found it to be perfect, so much so I could've almost binned my BT landline (but needed that for komputer). I agree that calls made out of the free period did tend to be expensive so I called orange to chat.

My circumstances had changed by then and ill health had forced early retirement, so with that in mind changed tarif to 120 cross network mins for the same monthly amount = £15. CLANGER!. It seems this tarif is like gold now, so think carefully before you consider binning it.

You CAN upgrade you phone and keep the same tarif, I did. I've now got a Samsung A800, the small clam type and it is ideal for my needs.

I've now been on this tarif since March'03. As February arrives, I will contact Orange and tell them I wish to use a tarif which is available on "3", ie 500 crossnetwork etc, and hope they recognise and swap.

LOL, as they stopped offering the contract 2 or 3 years ago I imagine it is over 12 months old!

Your problem is that Orange would prefer people to give up the contract and move to their current standard ones hence why your upgrade options are limited and poor whichever way you turn. I guess the only other way si to take another contract offering a 6230 but looking around even with cashback etc. the cost is greater than £100, have you attempted to get your PAC code from Orange to see what they may offer, that way you can test the water but then not use it and retain your Everyday 50 if they happily give it out without offering you a deal? Otherwise maybe pay the £100 and ask them to either throw in some text bundles or something. In fairness you have a fairly weak bargaining position as you are on a tarrif they no longer want to support and is unprofitable to them and also you have a minimal monthly spend.
