    Heya Devo,

As you say, you already know what is 'right' to do... :)

HOWEVER, if she is taxed, MOT'ed and roadworthy, you should seriously consider taking her for one last ride out, especially as the wather is so lovely. You mustn't let that tempt you into keeping her, of course, but it will give you something to remember her by (much the same way as I've always ridden favourite routes on the last hack out before the horse I ride changes stables), and also get her into good shape for Thursday. :)

And as slig say, she's going somewhere she will be appreciated! :)

I know - it's typical though isn't it that the weather is just turning nice... at least the guy who eants to buy her sounds extremely excited, so will no doubt appreciate her :o

Bless your wee heart!! It sounds as thought you really love this bike!
I had the same problem early last year but it was my car I was selling. I loved (and still do! :o) this little car as it was my 1st car but I knew in my heart I needed to get rid of it. I'm unfortunate enough to live round the corner from the new owner (I sold it to a garage for a good price and they sold it on) so I see my wee car all the time...and as pathetic as it may seem, I still want to run up to it and give a cuddle!! :D

The worst part is that I will be losing my bike and not getting anything in return because I'll use the cash to pay off one of my credit cards, so psychologically I'll have nothing to show for selling her :o

But you've already had the stuff that your going to be paying off so technically, although you won't be getting anything (except peace of mind and a huge chunk of debt paid off) you've already had your things to show for selling her...if you know what I mean!!

So how about selling it, sorry her, for £2750 and paying £2700 off your debt. Then think very carefully about spending the £50 on something. Something you really want but wouldn't usually get on your DFW journey. And if you can't think of anything worthy enough to spend the money on (and a few beers don't count) then pay the final £50 off your debts as well.

Hi Angelicmary85 - I know exactly how your feel!! I sold my first car last year, which I had from brand new and it broke my heart!! To make matters worse it was a relative of my OH who bought it and the little **** has written it off!! I was gutted, and actually wish I had sold it at auction miles away so I didn't know what happened to it, when you look after something for so long and then someone destroys it, it kinda makes you angry!!

I would think long and hard about selling anything with sentimental value ever again, I knew the day he picked the car up I was totally unhappy about it but I thought I'd gone too far to pull out when he turned up with the money.... I wish I had trusted my instinct and kept her!! :(

I take it you're not in a DMP or anything then and still making the minimum payments?

Otherwise you could have possibly made a reduced F&F settlement offer and got rid of possibly more than one debt.

I think you're doing the right thing though. It's a luxury you can't afford right now and are better off getting the money.

I decided the other day that I should really sell my motorbike. The main reasons behind this are that I don't really ride her at the moment and the money would pay off quite a chunk of my debt....

....I'll be getting £2750 cash for her and my total debt at present is about 10k :money:

My debts are a lot smaller than yours, but £2750 would be enough cash to change my (and I guess some other folks') life!

If you're not using the bike - why have it?

Trying not to sound harsh but it is just a machine, not a person. ;)
  • I sold my brand new car to pay off my OH debts, it hurt like hell but theres no point having a flashy set of wheels and nothing in the fridge!

Eight years on a have another new flashy car and no debts, stick with it.
