Acknowledgement (to seller) from EA after completion?

Maybe an odd question, but this is the first house that we have sold... completed middle of last week and not a word from our Estate Agent - nothing. Not sure what I was expecting, but...
The EA's fees were paid directly out of the proceeds of the sale by the Solicitor: so I guess they got their money and that's that.... just seems odd to me (no "congratulations on your sale" or anything). I guess that is a "nice-ity" and EAs have no time for those.

hi
no they wont bother contacting you - they have your money and thats all they want. I did say to my husband when we have moved in the past it would be nice if the sent you a welcome to your new home card a maybe a bunch of flowers - low outlay to them but I am sure it would go a long way to you recommending them to someone else or using them yourself again.
Congrats on the move - its hard work isnt it!!0 -
When I was an agent I sent flowers and a card to both buyers and sellers on completion.Pawpurrs x

I've only ever had one estate agent congratulate me after a house sale.It was the first time I ever sold & It was a small independent, sited just around the corner from the house & he came round on day of move with a good luck in your new home card & gave me a peck on the cheek.
Like bootalishus, I've always thought it would be a nice touch if all agents had it in them to be so thoughtful to send a good luck in your new home card, especially after they've made a few thousand out of your sale.
Good luck in your new home, if you have one!The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

"gave me a peck on the cheek"
Totally outwith the bounds of professionalism, IMHO....0 -

Ok so I am not completely mad for thinking it is odd that there was no contact at all... ok, I may have been overly optimistic :rotfl: (I guess I am an "old fashioned gal", but this isn't an "old fashioned world")
We are renting at the moment (actually renting back where we sold!): taking our time before buying again (not a lot on the market that I actually like...).

That's sad to read QTPie, I always call people on completion day just to say congrats. I don't send flowers or a card cos I'd have to pay for them!! Also, I think that towards the end of the sale I mostly end up speaking to vendors non stop, would be a bit weird to just not say anything at the end of it all. Maybe some people are just a bit rude! Haha would draw the line at a peck on the cheek tho methinks.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

Flowers - OTT, could be misinterpreted. Likewise a peck on the cheek.
Wine/Spirits - Inappropriate for teetotallers.
A simple thank-you card to those leaving, and a new home card to those arriving would seem the best choice to me. Or a Thank You phone call.0 -
Flowers OTT? I thought it was a nice touch......Just with a note saying I wish you every happiness in your new home, from the team at xxxxPawpurrs x
