Ok I'm turning to you in my hour of need.
Our fridge has broken in the flat and the managing agents - although they were quick to send someone round to look at it - can't replace it for a week.
I need as many suggestions for food I can buy, cook and store without a fridge for the next week please!!
The worst thing I'm having to live without is milk - can't have cereal for breakfast.
Oh and one last catch. It's a fridge feezer so there's no freezer either!
Thanks allEnd of 2010 I was £8,007.66 in debt
Today's total: £7,297.06

You could try long life UHT milk, or could prob get away with storing fresh milk in a bucket of cold water (obviously you will need to change the water as its temperature rises).
Do you or any of your friends have a cool box and freezer packs that they could lend you?0 -
Keep milk in a bucket of water out of direct sunlight in the coolest spot you can find. My Gran did this for years, and the milk will be ok for one day0

Old trick we used, before fridges, was
Add a piece of cloth, like a hanky, tea towel, over the top of the milk container, ensure cloth is damp & edges are in the water

I was wondering if any Old Stylers would have any tips if someone didn't have a fridge/freezer.
We're moving house next weekend and the fridge/freezer is supposed to be provided, but I was told last week that it can take up 28 days to be delivered, we're moving in next weekend  We're thinking positively but in case it doesn't arrive does anyone know how we can keep simple things like milk & butter cool?

You can buy electric coolboxes for about £35. They plug into an electric socket and also have a plug for the car. I think it would be worth getting one of those.
Alternatively, if you get a large terracotta flowerpot, you can soak it in cold water and put your milk etc in there with a damp cloth over the top.0
