thanks all.
with the iphone do you use a little pen to use with the touch screen or just big giant fingers??
I use my big clumsy sausage fingers (there is no stylus)! If you mistype something, it will auto-correct and put it right for you. 9 times out of 10 I will ignore any mistakes I know I have made and leave it to the phone to sort out. The only time it goes wrong is if I'm typing something like NHS... it will think I've made a mistake and correct it to 'Bus'. But even then it flags the error as your typing and allows you to overide the correction. I keep forgetting to do it though.
Honestly its very easy to use and get along with. Typing was the thing I was most worried about, but its actually easier on the iphone than any other phone I've ever used, including my old TyTN 2 which had a proper slide out QWERTY keyboard. I actually write emails on the thing, and can type away faster than some people can on their keyboards.
I'm not a fanboy or anything (although I am a gadget person), but I could bore you to death telling you about how good it is. Honestly its very capable and lovely to use.
That said you should think about what you want your smartphone to do, if you have any specific requirements, you should check them out first. But at the very least you should find someone thats got one and have a go!
Good luck!SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -

I think you can get a £30,000 Mac with 4 Quad Core 3.2 Ghz processors, 32Gb of DDR2 RAM and 4 1TB Hard Drives....
So yeah, that would be mine if money was no problem0 -
Yikes, I actually had no idea PCs could get that expensive. When I said money was no object I was thinking around the £5k mark! Is that one made out of gold??

wow! I just had a look at it, and could definitely think of a good use for it, but can't justify it on this project, will definitely bear it in mind for the next.
I just like toys far too much!! I like the look of the new Dell Amado but I think the money is being spent on the look & portability rather than the spec in that case. I want a real speedy pc/laptop, and think for the money, this wouldn't come close - what do you think?
Looked at the Alienware site too which was great, but can't ship until the end of May (need it asap) otherwise I most probably would have had a better look at those laptops.
Far too much choice when there is no real budget!

In which case your sorted! I have a GMail account which I've setup on my iphone using IMAP (which is free on Gmail). Using IMAP means that any changes I make on the iphone are reflected in GMail instantly and vice versa. If I logon to GMail and view my inbox and then delete a mail from it on the iphone, I can literally watch it disappear in GMail a few seconds later.
I've also setup my GMail contacts, and my Google Calendar the same way, it works flawlessly and is very cool. The integration is flawless, if you do end up getting one, let me know and I'll explain how you do it, infact here is a link that probably does a better job of explaining the process:

The web browser is also top notch, you can surf the web and view proper web pages with ease, not just cut down mobile style pages! Flash isn't supported, but I dont miss it, or even notice its not there.
I've only had mine since January so haven't used it abroad as yet, but I cant see that being a problem. I highly recommend it to you, I'm sure you'll love it.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Thanks Happy, have had a quick look at the Blackberry's too but the only attraction I can see is a 'real' keyboard which is not exciting me in the same way the iphone is. Do you have the 8 or 16 Gb phone?

I would love one for running Logic Studio on. I'm sure I could use up all the 32 GB of RAM.I just like toys far too much!! The MacBook Air is cheaper than the Adamo, and has a better spec. It's also lighter and mostly thinner.
My money would still be on the MacBook Pro for a beautiful powerhouse of a notebook.0 -
mm but I still have software qualms with the mac and wouldn't touch them ever. The MacBook Air is fabulous looking, with a much better spec than the Adamo.
