Another useful thing for people having this problem in the future is "startup delayer" .....google it.
It basically works on the principal that if EVERYTHING is trying to start at the same time it causes a bottle-neck, and the CPU can't cope.
If everything is started in an orderly fashion, everything starts smoothly. Start straight away , everything that you need straight away, and a few seconds (or minutes) later start the others.
The analogy used is of everyone trying to push through a door to get in the sales...everyone gets held back...if there is an orderly queue, everyone can get in hassle free.
I use it to delay individual bookmarks opening up in my ff tabs...that way the first one is open almost instantly, and I can deal with it, the next one is ready by the time I want it.
By which time my email is starting up, and then pplications such as word processors, are opening while I deal with my mail.
It can also be used for automating backups etc... for which some people may prefer to use task managers. It's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)
