O2's free 300 txt - confusing me!!!!

Hi all,

I've had a SIM now for nearly or over a year from O2 whereby I top up £10 a month and get free txts (300).

The thing that's confusing me is I presumed that if I didn't 'top up' by my anniversary date (the date I first topped up) then I'd start paying for text messages until I topped up again, then that date would become my 'new anniversary date'.

So all's well for all this time, I've been topping up (generally late as I'm forgetful) but I'd still be receiving my free texts, until that is yesterday, I hadn't had any money to top up for about 2 days so I've been paying for texts, I topped up yesterday, got the credit on my phone, but I've been charged for every text message sent?

I called Customer Services last night and the woman told me my 'anniversary date' was 11th of every month and I won't get my free txts till 11th March - is she right? It's the first I'd heard of this date hence why I'm confused

If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be really grateful :)

Thanks in advance

Lisa

I had this problem too, when I first started using the sim card, if I forgot, then the texts started from whenever I topped up. but they seem to have changed it, so if you miss your anniversary date, you have to wait untill the following month, which I find really annoying as I always forget as well!
  • Surely if o2 are changing the way these free texts are rewarded, they need to update their terms and conditions and inform their customers?

Well I'm glad it's not me going mad then! I told the lady last night that it's the first I'd ever heard of this 11th of the month date and had they changed the way the SIMS were operating, she said no it's always been like that? Strange eh?

I wish I'd kept the documentation that came with the SIM as I'm sure it said on there that when you topped up your new anniversary date would begin.

Anyway, ta for your replies :)

I have just read the booklet thats sent out with the free O2 payg sims. It clearly says

"Dont worry if you do forget, you just wont get your free monthly allowance until you next top up.When you do this date becomes your new anniversary date."

That is just what the documentation does say. The new top up date is the new anniversary date and free texts should start straight away. Mine did when I topped up early March over a month late and my former anniversary date was 13th. Think they are trying to justify the often occuring system glitches they have. Sometimes I only get half my 150 texts credited and have to chase them.

when my kids have topped up way past the anniversary date and they aint received their allowance i just email them , and they always apologise saying their was an error in the system and they always give a new anniversary date,

i always thought that if you topped up on a new date that was your NEW anniversary date

Thank you again for your comments, I've copied and pasted the bit from the booklet (thank you PriceFighter for finding it!) and I'm going to email them right now.

I'll let you know how I get on - will I get fobbed off again I wonder?!
