Well I never noticed any 'jitter' or have had any issues with it. It's gathering dust at the moment as I don't really have any need for it right now, but I am planning to get a DVD player which I can use with my PC monitor and use it with that if I want to add my PS3 to it every now and then.
Erm. Jitter isnt something youd 'see'. It means that the digital information is slightly 'skewed' and so the tv isnt getting the information exactly as it should be doing (Which would result in a slight loss of detail, colour and 3 dimensionality). It would still look 'ok', just not as good as it could do:idea:0 -
I bought the following a while back (when it was a lower price).

Don't have PS3, but have have other devices connected as I only have 2 HDMI ports on my TV, comes with external PSU (which you don't need to use unless running over long distances I expect).
I'm happy with it, not had any issues. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Ive heard that the cheapie ones do induce a lot of 'jitter' etc which will slightly degrade the quality. Top notch ones (Like 300 quid or more) actually boost the digital signal
This is the sort of thing I'm interested in - to feed a second television in the kitchen - but after carefully following the advice of aliEnRik :A and buying good quality HDMI cables (three of which needed to be 5 metres in length) I've been worried that it might destroy all that investment by promptly degrading the signal!
Would the one to which I've linked be regarded as good enough to be safe with 5 metre (Qunex) cables?

It appears to have external power supply. My PC is connected to my TV via a 5 metre HDMI lead to the switch I have and is not currently using the external PSU, the paper work for mine states it is fine with many more metres. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Ive just been reading a review of a simple 'splitter' box (Splits a hdmi signal 2 ways). At 45 quid youd expect it to be pretty good but the review said there was a definite 'degredation in quality'. I would suggest against buying that mate:idea:0 -
Thanks, guys.
I guess, for now, I'll stick with the current 15 metre component video triple-lead (plus stereo audio twin-lead) to the kitchen - at least until I've researched some more reviews of these boxes. It's only a 20" LCD (Sony KDL-20B4050) in there, so the connection doesn't need to be state of the art!
My main concern is not to degrade the existing direct HDMI feeds to the Sony monster in the lounge.
We've got kitchen television's 15-metre leads plugged into the spare outputs of the DVD recorder (Sony RDR-HXD995) and the Humax HDR has a feed to that, so everything recorded can get to the kitchen television by one means or another!
(If it works, don't fix it... )
