Are you sure she is latching on properly hun?

Is there a breastfeeding counsellor in your area maybe, that could come round and advise/ support you?

Cos I was advised NOT to combine the two, cos its easier for babies to take milk from the bottle and therefore they will stop taking the breast.

I used to spend all day feeding DS, till i discovered he wasnt latched on properly, and when he was, the difference was amazing:cool:

Also......if you are stressed or worried, it can hinder your production, you need to just try and relax and not worry about it so much:grouphug:
Hi Jinky  see we were told that combination was the best thing. Why is there such inconsistency with advice?? It would seem that one midwife says one thing and one says another. Hey Im not having a pop, they do a grand job.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! Got my girls coming round at about 1, bit earlier than I was expecting. Dunno how I am going to keep them entertained seeing as I've stole the tv for my bedroom while I have my housemate's xbox, heh.
Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

Finally caught up with all your news.
Catt-really hope it all clicks into place for you, my SIL spent a week in hospital learning how to breastfeed- and now waps the paps out all the time. He is two years old now and another on the way, so i think he will be a bit jealous when baby has mummy's boobs to his/herself.
Top up feeds are a good way to go, and just relaxing ...but a bit difficult when you are worried or have a new born. x
Hiya Bob, hows things? Waps the Paps, I like it :D

Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

I really dont know hun at all....doesnt make sense to me.

But mummies almost always produce enough milk for their particular babies needs, which is why feeding needs to be well established before introducing the bottle.

And if it takes longer than an hour to feed, on both sides, then baby isn't latching on properly:cool:

  • Cat,
It is very hard not to get stressed about it all hun, but you are doing a wonderful job with little Evie-I had the exact same issue with my DS and I agree with Jinky, when DS evetually started gaining, he was putting on a pound a week. The problem is BF babies dont tend to gain the same as formula fed.

Please try and talk to any of the BF groups. The minute I gave DS forula and he realised he could suck it back in seconds flat, he didn't like boobies anymore. It was horrible :(

You're doing so well sweetheart x

    Happy Birthday BR

I don't know if I have hay fever or a cold but it's annoying me - am on antihistamines, 1000mg Vit C and echinecea. And I'm still croaky and can't breathe, grr.
