Accidentally paid bill 22p short - advice needed

And now I've received an email reminder that I didn't pay the required amount.
It was a stupid oversight on my part and I will be paying the remainder of the bill today or tomorrow latest.

However I'm now worried sick this is going to count as a late or missed payment against me and on my credit score... we are due to remortgage in about 9 months and I know a lot of lenders won't even consider you if you one missed payment in the last 12 months.
The bill was £83.22 for the record and I paid £83 and forgot about the 22p. In my defence I had a baby two weeks before and my head was not in the best place.

I really feel sick worrying about it now.
Does anyone know if I will now have a black mark against my name?
The email came in too late for me to phone the lender.

You'll probably have a penalty charge on the account, as for black mark against your name I don't think it will have too much of an impact, however that depends on the lender, but I wouldn't worry too much.

I'd ring then up and just ask them if it has been recorded as a late / missed payment, and for the late payment fee to be refunded if it has been charged :)

When was the due date? If I was you I'd make the payment ASAP the quickest method possible (probably debit card payment, over the phone).

If £83.22 was the full amount due and not the minimun payment required and £83 payment was received by the due date the most you can expect is interest charged on the outstanding 22p
    Otherwise ring them up

The payment was due by April 13.
The new statement date was yesterday - hence the email.
I paid last night (in a panic by bank transfer... which I wouldn't have if my brain had been working- I would have held off and paid by my debit card today).

I don't mind late charges as such, I just am more concerned about the black mark on my credit file.
I have a perfect credit score - never missed a payment in my life - but need it to be perfect for next year as we are remortgaging and it's all going in my name as hubby isn't so great with money while I've always prided myself on being really sensible and top of things.

I'm really annoyed at myself about it.

    Hi Anna

Really, stop panicking and worrying yourself sick over it. One late payment now on a credit card in your whole history of credit is unlikely to stop a mortgage lender looking at you next *year*!

It was an oversight and it happened, you can't change it now. You have a baby to care for (many congratulations, by the way!), so don't stress yourself over this. If you have a perfect credit history it's very unlikely to make a difference if you want to remortgage next year. I've done the same thing before - been out by £1.71(!) - and it was recorded as late within a month, and made no difference to any applications for credit I made. I also had a perfect credit history.

Take a deep breath, have a cup of tea, enjoy your new baby, and brush it off this time as one of those BabyBrain things! It happens. :)

(Boy? Girl? Name?? I love babies!)

    :)

    Thanks for your reassurances.

I don't believe this is true. If you don't pay the FULL amount (i.e. not even 22p short), then you are charged interest on the ENTIRE balance from the date of purchase until the date the money is received. Interest will be due on the entire amount until the bank received the £83.

As for the initial problem, I think Kiki is right, it's not a big deal certainly not enough of a big deal to get worried sick over! :)
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Correct, interest will be charged on the full amount of £83.22 and not just the 22p.

2% interest on the £83.22 for 2 months is about £3
    Nothing to worry about :)

(unless £83.22 was the minimum payment)
