i know nothing about contract phones..... can u help?

hello all

my sis has a contract phone which still has 7 months left on it, she is no longer in the country and my mom is using and paying for it so that no charges are incurred.

is there anything she can do to reduce the cost or anything else????

How long is the contract? Usually after month 9, you can ask if they will downgrade the tariff so you pay less per month but also get less allowances. Although you might have to get your sister to do that since the contract is in her name

Depending on the network you may be able to drop to the a lower tariff, but the problem you're going to have, as notes above, is if you or your mum aren't on the account as third party's the the network won't talk to you. They can only speak to the named account holder under the data protection act.

its on 3, if that helps will it matter if she doesnt call from the phone???

As long as she can pass the security check she can call on any phone.

I don't know what 3's downgrade policy is, but I'm sure someone will be along to tell you...

You can't move to a cheaper price plan during your minimum contract on 3.
