Mine are the same. And some of their friends are amazingly spoilt. But I think it's good for them not to get pocket money, it encourages them to be resourceful. Mine are brilliant at working out how to get what they want, making their own clothes, finding things in skips etc etc

I will definitely let you know how she gets on! It is tough when they are at the end of the school year for birthdays - some of her friends are almost 16 so will find it much easier to get a job, whereas she is not 16 until GCSEs finish!!

Her job hunting is self motivated though, so if she is that determined she will get something eventually, and for that I am really proud of her. So many of her peers are given generous allowances by their parents so they don't see the point in, shock horror, actually having to get up on your days off to go and earn money!!!!

Loving this multi quote thingy! :D

She always has Dooyoo... :p As long as she doesn't do the whole getting distracted by the GCSE's...
 Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!

Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!

How do you amass £70k in a year?!

    Good Morning Hypno,

you are so close to getting into the 26,000s - when do you hope to achieve that?

I have had a terrible financial week, car needed servicing, DS's birthday, had to apply for 3 passports  and DH is away for 6 weeks so needed some cash to take with him, he won't spend much while he is away (he's going to be in the middle of the bush, very low on shops there! :rotfl:) so all in all I am going to be very skint until payday. The children and I have decided to see how long we can go without shipping, we'll need bread and milk but apart from that, its a challenge!

    Luckily we get paid fortnightly.

Have a lovely day - I think you are in for some nice weather soon.

Challenges like that help to keep you focussed and are really good once in a while, llamahead!

I will be in the £26s during the next week as a couple of loan payments come out - overpayments have slowed right down as I am saving for China and covering the ski races etc at the moment, but I am hoping to make a smallish overpayment to Egg in the next few days.

Sounds like you had a good day yesterday, Shaun!

I've done one dooyoo review - I am £10 towards my next £50 payout, so have started to make reasonable progress again. I will try and get another review written later today, and maybe a couple in "word" in order to upload easily during the week on those days when my brain is beat!

I've made a bit more progress with my script too, so that should be finished today. Actually, there is no "should be" about it - it has to be finished ready to record tomorrow!!

Our new student arrives this afternoon - just for three weeks....then we can have our house to ourselves! The £300 we get will pay a nice chunk of the China trip.

Hope DD finds herself a job soon, it's great she's so motivated.
My friend's daughter is lovely but her friends have given her some weird ideas about places being beneath her to work (looking for a summer job) - me and her mother have been trying to knock it out of her! How sixteen yr olds with no qualifications (yet!) can decide these things is beyond me, I think now they are looking they may be forced to become a little less choosey...

Thankfully DD is realistic! 15 years of living with me leaves her with no choice really :rotfl:

I would have thought my pal's down to earthness would have rubbed off on her daughter but she seems to have become a victim of peer pressure! She'll learn! wary of this I'm already suggesting to DS places he could work when he's old enough...;)
