Afternoon all - re the cake knife - me thinks twas already broken and had been fixed with superglue!. Cake was very chocolatey and yummy and there was Eton Mess as well!
Have been to work and it was very very hot and humid on pooside - got through 1litre of water an hour!
Am off out shortly bowling and for a meal as our lovely KS1 teacher is having her "Hen Night".
Hope you have a good evening Hypno - enjoy yourself with your friends.

Smelly, too, I would guess :rotfl:
My dining room is acceptable, and I have done a bin bag load of shredding. I am loading the car with things for OH to take to the tip tomorrow, so some more truck gets to leave the house......
DD is printing off masses of enquiry letters for part time jobs - there is so much competition for them, but if she keeps taking the letters round, eventually something should come good for her.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hello ALL!!! :j
Right had to catch up on this! Seems like everyone's lives are going into overdrive!
Pania: So sorry to hear about the friend
Hypno: On the part time jobs front... She MIGHT be able to get some holiday work via the NHS. Whilst I HATED, and I mean, HATED the NHS. It's a grwat place to get experience and things. If she signs up to NHS professionals (google it), she might be able to get some secretarial work for the summer to get her a nice tidy sum of money. If she was nearer to London I would heartily recommend the department stores for the sales. Harrods takes on an extra 5000 MEMBERS OF STAFF for a month! So it might worthwhile!
Skint Spice: CONGRATULATIONS!!! Even though I still have a relatively small amount of money owed to banks, I still can't seem to shift it. However, it's was wonderful to check my bank account after my holiday to Gran Can (very MSE I will add!) and my overdraft has been destroyed! I'm going to work out some budgets and then see if I can slim down either my overdraft or my credit card at the end of July by a cool £300! :T
Though I am very chuffed my tomato plants survived the hot spell with no water last week and thanks to today's rain and an early morning water. They've perked up and about to fruit out! Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -
I cheated today on the tidying up hypno - stuck a bag full of stuff in a cupboard! really must sort through it tomorrow but mates are due really soon!:o:o

Hi walshy - stranger :rotfl:DD is only 15 so job opportunities are limited as most specifiy 16 yrs, but she will keep applying and sooner or later something will turn up for her. She is determined......(don't know where she gets that from!)
slovenly_spice.........my house looks better than it was, but of course still some way to go......more work will be done tomorrow, but for now I have done enough!
I planted out some tomato plants today - hoping for some delish fruit from them in due courseWe also picked more strawberries from the garden.
DS made some fabulous meatballs for dinner - I was expecting to be able to freeze half of them but they were so delish we just ate them allI froze the leftover sauce though.......so I did make an OS effort!!
No spending today :T So I officially declare a NSD! Not only that, but of course my £20 survives day twoSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno! Is DD trying hairdressers? They seem to be the main employer of my DDs' peers (apart from paper rounds of course).Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I think hairdressers are on her list! She only turned 15 last week, so hasn't looked seriously for long - while she was only 14, she had no chance, other than her paper round and babysitting. She is planning on going into town tomorrow and handing out her letters. She spent ages printing off and stuffing envelopes today, so she has the right attitude about it, which is half the battle! I will make sure hairdressers are included! She is also trying the hotels for chambermaid work and waitressing, as well as the usual shops etc.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Good luck to her - and if she has any tips please pass them on as my DDs turn 15 next month and are keen to earn more money. Like yours, they do a paper round and babysitting, and occasional paid computer design work.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I will definitely let you know how she gets on! It is tough when they are at the end of the school year for birthdays - some of her friends are almost 16 so will find it much easier to get a job, whereas she is not 16 until GCSEs finish!!
Her job hunting is self motivated though, so if she is that determined she will get something eventually, and for that I am really proud of her. So many of her peers are given generous allowances by their parents so they don't see the point in, shock horror, actually having to get up on your days off to go and earn money!!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
