I'm just a girl who can't say "no".......

Just had a phone call - could I take in a student for 3 weeks.....starting the week after the long term student goes home.....?

Mouth open and the words "yes, that will be fine" blurt out before I even consider what anyone else thinks.......

Ah well, it will all help towards clearing the loan/going to China/winter training etc...

Feel flattered Hypno! Okay it may not be ideal from the point of view of "me/family" time BUT they obviously trust you and as you say the money will be useful

Think of the 3 weeks as paying for the decorating on the rooms after they go :money:

Oh the £300 will be very useful, of course!

Surfbabe, glad you had a good week, even if the weather was not too great. Hope the lifeguard thing went well this afternoon.

The weekend is going to be lovely weather according to the forecast.....so I want to spend at least a little time out in the garden. I have to work in the morning, but I aim to get the grass cut in the afternoon and a few more weeds pulled out - I have a lot of work still to do before the house and garden are as I want them, but I feel as though I have made a good start, so if I can build on that I will get there eventually.....

Me, I hope the hair colour turns out ok!!

You are a mug / saint / mad or a bit of all 3! It will come in useful and it is only 3 weeks... Does that mean the kids have to wait for their room swaps?

Yes, the room swaps will wait, but to be honest, I have a week off at the end of July that I had earmarked for removals/painting etc, and the new student will be gone by then, so really it makes no difference.

And for the future, if we had another short term student, it would still be ok - I don't mind putting a 3 week visitor in a small room.....it is just for a 17 or 18 year old, here for a full year, they really need a bit more space as they spend so much time there.

bah! After my hoover had a blip last week, my kettle has developed a leak - it is only a few weeks since I bought it so I can take it back, but it is a hassle I could do without....every time I boil it, half the water comes out underneath it.....so there must be a hole somewhere.

And my washing machine won't drain.....I have tried all the troubleshooting bits and pieces, but it is still full of water. OH is at work but hopefully he can have another look at it tomorrow. I think I overworked the machine last week when I was catching up!

Today's manic housework moment has been the main bathroom......scrubbed and bleached to an inch of its life.....see, I am really making an effort here!

Always the way it goes Hypno. If it won't drain, pull it out and put hose down into a bucket, we used to just let ours drain out of the back door. It seemed to unclog stuff if we put it on a spin only cycle without washing in it.
The last time it was the brushes needing replacing after wearing out. Should be an easy job for your OH if he is a practical chap, if not about £30 -£50 depending on repairers in your area.
