MSN 7.5 signing in probs

Hi folks
I have been using windows messenger for a while but want to use the features of MSN 7.5. I have managed to download it but it wont let me sign in (i have used it many times before on a different machine).
One thing that seems odd is that from msn.co.uk I could only get to the messenger download via AOL-it didnt work on my preferred option of Firefox or IE.
When msn finally gives in trying to sign me in the error code that comes up is 80048820 but the trouble shooter shows that I pass all of the 'Basic Internet Connectivity Tests'.
I have looked up the error code on the MSN Messenger help site and believe i've tried all of the options...

Is there anything you can think of that might get it working...I''m dying to use my new webcam
Thanks in advance
Lou

Try exiting Windows Messenger First.
Icon by Clock right click and exit.0 -

Martin had a similar problem with 7.5 in this thread
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=118275
there is a link in there to a download of version 7 which works fine and is almost the same apart from the "send audio clip" option
you need to remove version 7.5 and then do a fresh download of 7Ex forum ambassador
