Well,
our 6 month old daughter started nursery last monday. up till now she has been clear of nappy rash. right up until she started nursery that is!!
Bless her, it looks ever so sore....must be akin to us the day after a good curry! !!!!!! like a japenese flag!
What i am after is, what is the best thing to treat the nappy rash?
we are currently using sudacrem, which has been fine since she was born
are the nursery doing anything wrong, seems strange why she has started it as she starts nursery
Cheers

They could be using different baby wipes? Or even different brand of nappies?
I hope it clears up soon - I'm sure a parent will be along soon with more practical advice...lol.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Is she starting with teething. My son always gets nappy rash when he's teething. Keep an eye on it as sometimes it can be thrush and you'll need a visit to the GP (or sometimes HV) for a script.
Js is right though, if they're using different products they might disagree with her delicate bits.
If the sudocrem doesn't work try one called something like Metonium. That's not the right name but it's very similar and on the baby aisle. This works for my son as it seems to have a bit more antiseptic stuff in it. Sorry not very descriptive but I haven't got any at the mo to be able to check.
Also try leaving her nappy off for as long as possible to let the air get to her bottom. This is one of the best ways for clearing nappy rash.
Good luck.:smileyhea0 -

its called metanium, its bright yellow and works great, but its also quite greasy, so doesnt wash off easily
if you want a homemade remedy though, egg white works well - although make sure your child isnt allergic to them first.

best thing to do is speak to the pharmasist they will give you the best advise, it could be thrush which will need an antifungal cream. lots of babys seem to get nappy rash when the start nursery. just read other posts same advise!0

I got givent metanium to use and was quite good, but I prefer kamilosan, its amazing, its like a wonder cream or something. My baby got it when he started to teethe and was that bad his bottom used to bleed when it was wiped, 2 days of kamilosan and it was clear. Fantastic product for all skin troubles, including cracked nipples when breast feedingWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

If the bottom is very red with lots of little raised spots then it could be thrush; very common in babies and very easy to clear up with the right cream (clotrimazole).
If baby is getting the rash after nursery then find out what nappies and wipes they use, try giving them your own to use and see if that makes a difference.
Sudocrem is ok but most people use too much which acts as a barrier and stops the sweat escaping from the skin, causing soreness. You should not be able to see the sudocrem on the skin (no white patches). It also blocks the lining of the nappy, stopping it from drawing the urine away from the skin.
Drapoline is an excellent alternative to Sudocrem, it sticks to sore bottoms and heals the skin overnight.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
if it is thrush and not nappy rash,,,,look in the baby's mouth and check if the tongue is white....if it is then it thrush....but the quickest way to get rid if the nappy rash,is the white of the egg, basted onto the area and dried in(eg.hair dryer)...it works a treat, and not painfull like sudacream.as sudacream nips.and so does vaseline(poor babs bums)....0

Calendula cream is very gentle on the skin. As an earlier post said i is just as important not to over ceam as it acts as a barrier, all skin needs to have the pores open to get rid of toxins.
A vigorous cold flannel rub is great for opening up the pores. My Shop Is Your Shop0 -
My mum swears by Plain flour (Mcdougalls). Never needed to use it yet with mine, but friends little boy had horrendous Nappy Rash and she tried it, it cleared up overnight.
As the others said check teeth, wipes and nappies, also check in your childs activity book to see how many times they are changing her, does this correspond with what you would expect? are they leaving her in a pooey nappy a bit too long?.
Thrush is pimply and speads down the legs also.
