I was with 1&1 for three years until this week and haven't had a problem with them. Their accounts team (when you can get through) are knowledgeable as are their excellent support people. 1&1's published telephone numbers are all 0871, so don't forget to go through saynoto0870.com to get the regional (01753) numbers if you need to call.
As for sandiep's comment about 1&1 being dodgy on domain registration, I have no experience of that, despite using five different .uk and .com domains through them. On Saturday afternoon I de-tagged and requested a transfer for two of the .uk domains that I had registered with 1&1. Both domains were active with the new registrar at 10:00am on Monday.0 -
I'd recommend godaddy for your domain names and squarespace if your after building/designing a site. They're fantastic! So simple and what you see tis what you get!
Hope this helps.
Sorry I can't post links but google them and you'll find them.0 -
And if you use coupon code HAK5 when you sign up to squarespace you get 10% off the life of your contract.
I think HAK5 works with GoDaddy as well, but I forget what discount that gives you.0 -
thanks for the suggestions and codes i will take a look at the latter suggestions now.
I have no idea how much space etc. I need for hosting! It is about 8 webpages that will be used for information, hold static images and have small documents to download on it. Is 250Mb of hosting space enough? This seems to be the cheapest option

Yes that is plenty.0 -
I noticed some old godaddy codes in this thread and thought I'd add an update in case anyone wants some 2009 - 2010 stuff. I just used one (MTECH9) and it worked fine (meaning, saved me money- all good!).
MTECH8 for 10% off your order
MTECH9 for 20% off $50 or more
MTECH10 for 30% off .com domains (and it works on renewals)
These don't expire till July 2010 and have no limitations on how much they can be used
Also MTECH25 for 25% off $100 expires 29 August 2009
Hope this helps someone! Cheers!0
