Before you do that, have you definitely cleaned out your filter? I'm not sure drain cleaner would have a good effect on the dishwasher.0

Yes. I have cleaned out everything I can see but the water is still not draining away.0

Try 'soda crystals' about 80p from most large supermarkets, it degreases and de-scales and unblocks most things! i used to run it through (don't have dishwasher now) every couple of weeks to keep pipes clear, also good to run through your washing machine every now and then, same as calgon but loads cheaper, hope it works!Kat :money:0

MAKE SURE you run hot water through after using Soda Crystals, or you can end up with a worse blocked drain. If you don't, the soda resolidifies - Speaking from expensive experience here.0

Yep, read the instructions hot water is needed to 'sluice' things through!Kat :money:0

As well as checking for blocked filters, take a look at the actual drain hose, make sure it's not been crushed or kinked. Unlikely unless the dishwasher has been moved recently, but worth a check. While you're at it, if it's fairly simple to remove the drain hose, then take it off and give it a really good clean through with hot water and an old rag.0

The bit our dishwasher hose drains into under the sink has a non-return valve (this is the adapter we added to the existing plumbing). Might be worth checking whether you have similar - I have to clear ours out every six weeks or so or the dishwasher stops.

Hi, just posted this answer to someone who has a blocked washing machine, I find this works the same for dishwashers and its really cheap and safe. Run your empty dishwasher on the hottest cycle with two bottles of vinegar chucked in the bottom of it. I use the Asda smartprice vinegar for this and it dissolves grease beautifully, its not poisonous and it just flushes away down the drain. Might need to try it a couple of times for a result but it only costs 13 p per bottle, so worth a try before more expensive or riskier solutions...
Good luck anyway,0 -
When our DW was blocked i found taking the waste pipe out of the trap and blowing down it caused the blockage(a milk bottle top) to come out and then it was ok.,might be worth a go.
