Dolly i thought that too but when i made enqiries i found out they had never received my IPOQ,royal mail lost it:mad:. Luckily for me my OR let me submit another one. Finally got it ED sept after originally getting first notification in april. You did send it back recorded(not registered).....please say you did:rolleyes:. Dx

What does IPOQ stand for? and what is it?

  • I think it means Income Payments Order Questionaire. Basically it is an updated Income and Expenditure questionaire to make sure there have been no further changes since BR was filed. If not, then they will probably grant ED.

Thanks Dolly, hope you get a reply from your OR tomorrow to put your mind at rest

May, if you are very very lucky, grant ED :)

    Hi dalip,

As an ex-subpostmaster (amongst other assorted titles:D:D) I just have to clear up a common misunderstanding here.

There is no such thing as UK Registered Post; it's either Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery. They're both signed for on delivery, so both proof of an item being received,

Special Delivery is guaranteed next day and time delivery, and the contents can be insured to the value of £10k, I think. Recorded doesn't guarantee delivery day or time and can't be insured to the same value.

Proof of posting is free but isn't proof of delivery.

  • Thanks for that Richard. As I was typing my reply I was thinking 'Something tells me it was recorded but it only cost £1.35 and not £4.90'. I think the confusion comes from years ago from the days before Special Delivery, back then it was registered or recorded

Sieve: Do lots of people not get ED? From reading another br forum, everyone seems to get granted it. Thought I was the only one until I 'met' Richard.

I don't know for certain as this is solely based on what people have said on here but I think it is very dependent on how busy your OR is and whether they have time to file the extra papers required to discharge you. Personally I think it will get less common this year with more and more people going BR and therefore more and more work for the ORs to do - but I will hopefully be proved wrong :)

  • Hello,
Thank you to everyone last night for getting me through the evening!
Had a lovely email from OR a few moments ago. He will give us a decision on whether we can purchase BI in the next few days...phew! Also said we can have joint Life assurance policy back for £100.
    Feel much better now.
Lets hope the sun shines today!
