Item I sent lost in post, can I get my fees back?

Hiya
I sent a low cost item by recorded delivery a few weeks ago and it is still showing as being held in the post office I posted it in, so presumably lost! I am happy to refund the buyer and claim from RM but just wondered if there was any way of going about it so I can get all my ebay fees back?
Thanks in advance.

Out of interest, has the buyer been asking where it is, or did you just track it out of curiosity? My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
An item I sent via second class recorded STILL shows as being "recieved at post office", despite the fact it has already been delivered.0

Absolutely, that seems to be the case in a lot of recorded items nowadays and as I always say (and drive the regulars crazy!) nothing at all I sent in october 2008 recorded ever showed up online as delivered, yet it all arrived OK.
OP, Unless the buyer has questioned where the item is I would do nothing at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm guessing clearing the Easter backlog is a priority for RM, and updating the location of recorded parcels has taken a back seat.0

The buyer has been asking where it is and as I posted it on 28th March first class recorded I am now assuming it has been lost....
Can I ask them to agree to a mutual cancellation of the transaction to get my final value fees back? I will then refund and claim from RM. It isn't a lot but better in my pocket than Ebay's.0 -
Would cancelling the bid not affect their rights during the paypal dispute?0
-
What if I refunded them first then asked them to cancel the transaction? I know I am taking a risk but it is only a low cost item.0
-
By the way, I wasn't stating a fact when I said that, I was asking a question. It might not affect anything, I'm sure someone will be along soon to clarify.0

Doing a mutual makes no difference at all to the transaction, the buyer can refuse or agree as he wishes.
Just refund in full now by returning the original paypal payment, that gets all your paypal fees back. Then once the buyer has their refund and are feeling happy with your customer services ask them to complete a mutual to reclaim your fees.
Then after 15 working days you can start your own claim from RM.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No. Unless you can get the buyer to do a mutual cancellation of the transaction.... which is unlikely.Rotherham_Lass wrote: »Hiya
