Howdy. 2 Porting questions -

I use Vodafone - but the number and bill is in my OHs name. I want to look at a 3 contract but would I be able to take the number I use and is not in my name over to a new contract that will be in my name (on the assumption I can get the contract!!)?

Second question about porting, is that many years ago, my OH took his number from T-Mobile over to Vodafone and he believes that he cannot take this number elsewhere as you can only take a number once. Is this right>

No - you can port the number as often as you like, and as soon as the earlier port is completed. As to the name, it doesn't really matter - the request for the port has to be made by the original account holder, or someone the donating network believes is authorised to make the request. (As this often means cancelling an ongoing contract).

Once you have the PAC, you give this to the new network - at this stage there is no requirement for the receiving network to check that the names are the same.

Thanks for that!!! All brilliant. We are going to see if Vodafone will match but the arguement we had with them for OHs one, I doubt they will agree. But ho hum.

The best thing to do regarding your OH's is to make sure your both present to speak to the porting team so that authorisation can be given to deal with your OH's account, data protection and all that. Did the same thing ourselves.
