Handset Problems - Advice
Options
I have a Vodafone mobile contract and have had continual problems with my handset over the past 3 months. The handset was repaired 3 times within 8 weeks however the fault was still evident, therefore Vodafone issued me with a "replacement" handset.
This was a "refurbished" handset from their repair centre and unfortunately started exhibiting problems after just 5 days.
I have approached Vodafone and requested a replacement handset however they have denied this possibility and instead wish to send the handset away for repair once again. After another 3 repairs (i.e. a further 6 visits to a Vodafone store at my expense, and no phone for at least a week each time) they would be willing to replace the handset again with another refurbished model.
Having already visited the store 7 times at my expense and paid my contract for 3 months when I have not had full use of my phone, I am not willing to start again on this path. I am no further forward than I was in January, only am 3 months phone subscription and the cost of 7 trips to the store out of pocket. Surely I cannot be expected to continue in this vein indefinitely?
Does anyone have any advice on how best to proceed?
Surely I have some rights under the Sale of Goods Act or the Supply of Sales and Goods Act? Am I able to demand a replacement rather than a repair within the first 28 days as would be the case if I had just purchased it?
