Cashplus prepay mastercard. Mine arrived in 2 days and one further phone call to them enabled car hire on the account.

You do need to load it with funds before you go (do it at the post office for free, but it takes one working day to appear on your account, or do it at an epay outlet for a £2 fee, funds available within 15 minutes) but as others have said, you're not going to get a proper post-pay credit card in 7 days.

I agree.

IME, most lenders (including Capital One, Egg, HBOS, Mint, Tesco and MBNA give instant decisions and credit limits online or by telephone (provided that you have a good credit history and they can verify your ID electronically via the electoral roll.) Of these, Mint and MBNA were fastest.

I still think you would be cutting things awfully fine though.
