Get a Credit Card in 1 Week

Hi Guys and Gals.

I need to get a credit card within one week to pay for a rental car for my Holiday. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I'd say you'd be lucky... most issuers production times stretch to around the 7 day mark and that's after all the credit checking, etc...

the only other thing i can think of is a cash advance off of a possible CC.

like for example Vanquis offered me one but tbh as i am only making small use of the card i declined their offer.

How could this possibly help OP?

He needs a credit card to be swiped when he books the car as a sort of guarntee that he will not abscond or damage the car.

1. I Didnt know that seeing as i've never driven let alone hired a car

2. i thought he needed the fund more than anything else

3. next time just a simple that wouldnt help because of .... will do instead of an attitude towards anothers post. in this case i posted something that i thought would be helpful which wasnt and i accept that but laying a comment like that doesnt change that i offered to help and is just unnecessary

Some prepay cards have issues with being used for this purpose.

for example i know the cashplus card will alow it but i think you have to ring them up to allow it/activate it.

Barclaycard are quite quick if you get an instant acceptance. Dunno about 7 days, but they were very fast for me.

Funnily enough, I just got a message on HSBC online banking saying that they have just introduced instant approval online for credit cards, which are then sent out within days (think it was only 5 days). Might have to be an online customer already, but shows it can be possible.
