Wireless Router Set Up

Hi. Please forgive me but I'm not very IT savvy and have messed up my wireless router set up. I input an incorrect encryption code and now when it asks for the network key it won't accept the security code from the base of the router. The router is a Siemens Gogaset SE572. How can I reset this up correctly? Am I best to buy a new router and start again?

If you have set the correct encryption type, you will have to connect to the router with an ethernet cable, and go to the ip address of the router in your browser, and check the encryption key set on the router. If you have never changed the setting on the router, check your encryption type is correct, wep/wpa etc.0

Sorry, how do I do this? Where do I get the ip address from?0

If you've got another pc working, you could find the ip address from that.
Do you have an ethernet cable, plug it into the router and pc, then go into the cmd prompt, start, run, cmd
type ipconfig /all
note the gateway ip address, 192.168.x.x
you may need to do
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
first.
is this vista or xp, and wep or wpa?0 -
It's XP, but I don't know about WEP/WPA, sorry.0

Most routers have a hard reset button so you can revert to the factory defaults, you can then restart the set up from scratch. Consult your router manual.
XP is the operating system. WEP or WPA refers to the wireless encyrption method. Use WPA when resetting, as WEP is not secure. No free lunch, and no free laptop

configuring wireless routers can be a minefield !! believe me - and I regard myself as being quite handy with such problems.
In the end I paid £30 for a local IT agent to come around and talk me through the pitfalls of wireless networking.
If you only have a basic knowledge of computer/wireless systems I would go down the same route (pun intended
