Don't bid until the last minute then nobody can shill against you.

When I was new to EBay I messed up my first listing and bid on my own item and won. When you actually sit down and work out the costs and risk of getting caught it is just not worth it. Therse folk will not be around for long.

I used to get worked up about it and reported many people for it. now I never bid before the last minute unless I don't expect to win.

I decide the right price, then bid it at the last min. I really couldn't care less if any seller shills or not, doesn't matter. If I get it for the price I want then great. The time spent looking at bidder % could be better spent in my view. Maybe I'm wrong.

Bid when there are only seconds left, not minutes.

it doesnt show me the bidders name just bidder x i have reported it to ebay. ive been getting some abusive and threatening emails off the seller all evening !

Why have you been getting emails from them? Surely you didn't tell them you had reported them?

it takes all of a second to look at the bidding activity and if it hadnt looked suspcious i wouldnt of gone onto look at their other items! not that its any of your concern why I looked. Making childish comments like that suggests its you that needs to get a life. If youve nothing constructive to say then dont say it! Just move onto another post.

I suspect those that have made such comments are sellers whi shill bid themselves. Hopefully you will get caught and ebay ban you indefinite.

I emailed them to ask them to cancel my bid as per ebays suggestion when the seller asked why I just explained that it looked like shill bidding was taking place on the item.

Stop bidding on items until the last few seconds. If you bid before that (except say to remove a BIN) then regardless of whether or not folk shill bid on the item you will inevitably pay more for the item. If you can't be around then use a sniper. If you want to have success on EBay you have to be savvy to the way it works.

I tend to agree that shill bidding doesn't really bother me as i bid in the dying seconds.

Remember they need your ebay ID and password. Do not use one that is PC based you need one based on an external server.
