ugh! just what you didn't need - but well done on paying the minimum - no point chucking money away...
think it was a bit strong of them to involve a debt collection agency straight away - get them to write confirming these arrangements just in case - or write to them to confirm what you have arranged. I would send something along these lines.

Further to your letter of (date) and the telephone conversation between myself and (name) earlier today I write to confirm I have made arrangements to repay the loan of (amount) in instalments by standing order to your account number (sort code & account number) commencing on (day, date) with further payments of £10.00 weekly on (day).
I trust that this is satisfactory and look forward to receiving your written acknowledgement of these arrangements.
Yours sincerely

That's what I thought when I got it, but apparently they had been writing to us, but at old addresses - obviously we never got them, so they were at the end of the process IYSWIM - it hadn't gone to a DC agency thank goodness, but was headed that way.
Was going to write to confirm what I had said too - great minds there Valli, not sure if they'll accept the signoff that you've put though... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Have been busy this weekend, started working yesterday morning, then we had to go out to get hubby some work shorts and stuff (he wears overalls all day and needs shorts underneath), so got those out of the way, also got some new underwear and socks for both of us as it's the kind of thing you don't buy until you're out of stuff
, but were good not spending on anything else, didn't even have a coffee while we were out :T.
The Good Stuff:
Have put £10 off my VCC with my PAD for yesterday and today.
Have taken gas and electric readings - seem quite good so we haven't been using loads, I have asked BG how I can work out costs - but think it will be just looking at last bill and working it out for myself
.
Have also looked at our sky package to see if worth changing anything - I would love to get HD (love motorsport and it would be great on this), but not prepared to pay £50 for box and £30 installation plus £9 extra a month, so didn't go for that.
Going to look at our car insurance in a bit...
The Bad stuff:
Had to spend £25 on some reading glasses for hubby. Was going to have new lenses put in his current ones (£40), but saw some nice ones on the £25 stand, so had totally new glasses instead (he only wears them now and again, so doesn't need anything fancy, or that's what I told him anyway...:rotfl:;)) so although had to spend, saved £15 there...:D
Also had to buy 2 birthday cards, a special card for DD and stamps £6.50
The Naughty Stuff:
Was naughty on Friday and had breakfast while waiting for a prescription in Tesco - was going to the club to paint some walls, so spent £6.15 for me and DS...:(
And when we got back from hubby taking his Bike theory test (he passed :j) we brought MaccyD's breakfasts... £10.26 very naughty (but nice...:o)
Mmmm, this keeping tabs is keeping me honest. £16.41 wasted on takeaways, so I am going to have a bit of a cooking fest next week I think so we have stuff in freezer. Also still need to do that meal planning... will do once I have started dinner and finish watching F1 on red (GO BUTTON!!! :j)
Have just worked out our money for the next two weeks and it's not looking good - as at todays balance we are £295 into our overdraft, and with wages and all bills due out, at this time a week on Wednesday (day before payday) we will be £1762.10 overdrawn - and we only have a £1000 overdraft ????
They are all small payments too, nothing drastic, I am going to go have a look to see where this money is going and if there is anything I can put off... it's a worry, and I need to work on it somehow... Hi FF - well done on taking control and setting things down in black & white.
Your biggest downfall appears to be unecessary impulse spends - McD's being a prime example. If I read it right, you're using a card to buy junk food -yes? Why not work out what cash you need for a week, say, draw that out, then pop your card into a mug of water and put it into the freezer. That way, you CAN'T spend on it, and will be more likely to go home and cook the food that is on your meal plan (hint hint!) for that night? I can't see you have anything to lose by trying it anyway. Also, something that works well for me is a once a week shop - I got to Tesco on a Friday night and, 90% of the time, don't go in again until the following Friday. It realy cuts down on the thing of going in for a pint of milk and coming out £20 lighter!

Thanks Essex, I started doing that when I first joined the forum and the GC - I even got myself a seperate purse to keep the cash in

Trouble is, the only card I use is my maestro, so I couldn't freeze it as it's my cashcard, but I might go back to doing the GC and drawing out the cash for that.
I don't go shopping very often, I am quite good at only going once a week and being strict with myself (I can say NO even when DS comes with me, and he could say 'can I have' for England :rotfl:), and what I have been doing is transferring anything left from my £60 shopping allowance at the end of the week to my PAD and paying it off my VCC - but it is very tempting having it with me.
I think we waste a lot of money and that is what has to stop... I do tend to spend when out of the house and working, that is my big weakness, so maybe I could leave the card at home then... not quite freezing, but same outcome?
It's how to cut back on my regular spending that I need to look at as the monthly payments are killing us...
(Oh and thanks for the reminder about the meal plan - off to do that now...

I asked this earlier Flower but how much (roughly) in £££££ interest is being added to your Van CCs and the other 2 each month?
and sort out that OD - or they are going to bounce something...

***wags finger***
Last month, interest was this:
Hubby's VCC - £20.08
My VCC - £16.68
F/D CC - £14.37 (the least interest yet double the balance of the other two on the card???)
O/D - £2.87 (wages going in helps keep the balance low)
I will transfer stuff and cancel SO & DD's before I will let myself go over my limit - no way am I going to pay charges and add to our problems, just lots coming out at the beginning of the month - may try to change some payment dates... but waggy finger noted
