help needed please

I sold a mobile phone on ebay exactly a week ago and still havent received the money.
I emailed the buyer asking when they are going to pay and they sent me a message back saying they had paid when they first won the item.
I have checked my paypal account and have not had any money from that person. They are insisting that they paid and they havnt.
what should i do?

Thankyou

If they paid via Paypal they would have a transaction ID, ask if they have this & could they confirm the e-mail address they sent it to (just looking on a previous email confirmation I have had from Paypal & it shows this all on there).
If they can supply a transaction ID & they can confirm it is the correct e-mail address that it has been sent to then I guess it would be best to contact Paypal.

When you check your sold page on ebay does it show as paid or not?

OK, go back to the buyer and explain that they might have overlooked payment as nothing shows. You could even ask whether they might have sent a cheque or postal order as it could still be on its way.

I don't think there has been any mention that the phone has been sent yet.

Tee hee, I've done that as well, I've typed out long answers then clicked send and realise I have missed out reading a whole vital paragraph or something..

Has the buyers payment not come through as an e-cheque? this happens alot with paypal and when it does it will show as being sent on the buyers account but wont be showing on your balance yet.

You can usually tell by clicking on the sold item in my ebay and where the pound sybol usually is to the right you will see an egg timer, run you mouse over it and it will read something like "payment initiated through paypal"

If this is the case don't send untill it changes to cleared as just like real cheques e-cheques can bounce.

Is your email address in your listing correct (no missing characters or typos) ?

If not, you will not receive the payment via Paypal, but the buyer will think that they have sent it.
